@diamondparent I’m a current student at Conn who is part of the theatre department. It is a small but extremely high regarded department. A lot of the schools funding does go to the theatre department along with other arts programs. Students can study abroad at the Eugene O’Neil Theatre. It’s an amazing program and people who have gone to traditional BFA programs have transferred to Conn because they want a less competitive environment.
We do many shows a year and the theatre major at Conn makes students well rounded. There’s also intense opportunity to explore other areas of academics as well as theatre. Double majoring is really common or double minoring with a major in theatre. Professors are also really accommodating if a student is in a show, and most times they even attend shows to support their own students.
I took Acting 1 my first semester at Conn and it was one of the best classes I have ever taken in my entire life. I highly recommend that class if your daughter does decide to enroll at Conn.
