Major: Biological Sciences
SAT: 1850
ACT: 30
W Gpa: 4.3
Uw Gpa: 3.9
EC: Lots of sports, leadership positions in clubs and sports, etc.

I just found out I was wait listed, and am extremely disappointed since Cal Poly was most definitely my first choice and my only chance to go to college given my financial state. I applied for Animal Sciences having done two professional veterinary internships where I have actively participated in surgeries, patient care, etc. Getting in to Cal Poly was kind of all I was depending on, not to be extremely dramatic. My stats are a GPA of 4.11 and SAT 1900, and I have taken over 4 years of lab science. I am currently, this year alone, taking 3 lab sciences. I was wondering if anyone had any advice to offer, anything would be great.

I see absolutely no trend between the people waitlisted and accepted. Admissions are more wack this year.

Still waiting: CSUGPA:3.92 ACT:32 MechE/EE

@vetinprocess You didn’t get into Animal Science with those stats…wow. Best advice I can say is go to a community college and transfer out after 2 years. Saves you money, and gives you another chance. Don’t be bummed, you just have to take a slight detour! In the end it will all work out! :)

vet in process

You have great stats. My friend’s kid got into out of state in pre vet with almost full scholarship. I’d go to a comm college and widen you range of choices next time. You won’t have any problems getting into vet school. Just a detour.

145 people accepted so far…?

What high school do you attend? We’re from Santa Cruz (Soquel High) and my daughter is a sophomore at Cal Poly. Lovin’ it! Best wishes to you!

For what it’s worth, I toured the campus yesterday and fell in love with it. SLO was a school that I applied to purely because of the engineering status, but it’s now in my top 3. I’m seriously considering SLO over any UC I get into. Maybe I’m saying that because I haven’t gotten into any of them, but I applied to LA, Cal, D, and SD.

Chocolate, when did you find out.

I had to look on Facebook. February 22. Hahaha. The only reason why I checked the portal is because my news feed exploded with SLO acceptance statuses. Cal Poly releases decisions by major, so that might have something to do with it. I know a girl that’s a CompE or CompSci major and she still doesn’t know.

Posting for my son…

ACCEPTED on Feb 22

My daughter still hasn’t heard back and she selected Chemistry as her major. Has anyone been accepted in the Chemistry program?

I just reread my acceptance post and I said my weighted GPA was 3.25 that should have been 4.25 or without PE 4.35. SAT 1350/1600, ACT 30. Computer engineering. accepted 2/22

Tspoonsmom, I also applied as an industrial engineer major. But… i was waitlisted. Is Cal Poly your sons first choice?

@Nightshroud4, No, Cal Poly is his back up school but now that we’ve seen the huge number of applicants this year at UCLA, UCI, UCSD and UCSB who knows. He did receive one of those invitation from the Chancelor or UCSB inviting him to the reception for ‘high achieving applicants’. On the UCSB thread it said whoever received it last year was accepted, but we haven’t received anything official yet. He also received supplementals from Berkeley, UCLA and UCI but we don’t even know what to make of those. He thoughtfully filled them out and now we wait.
