Official Accepted or Rejected Thread (Class of 2014)

Compared to some of the other schools, CAS tends to concentrate more on test scores, GPA, rank. Gallatin students have to submit a concentration and generally write a fantastic essay. Tisch students have portfolios or auditions to supplement their applications. Steinhardt is all about the essay and fit.

CAS and Stern are probably the most (in my opinion) formulaic and numbers-driven.

Take everything I say with a grain of salt, obviously. Just my opinions. I guess I would amend my original comment to say that Gallatin is looking for different things than CAS is. Gallatin wants to see academic initiative, creativity and independence.

Based on what you’re saying, I think I may have applied to the wrong school now. CRAP

when will i hear from steinhardt???

@woosah
also, am I wrong in thinking CAS has 1300 kids per class? Where as Gallatin I think caps at about 225-250 per class… so LSP Gallatin would be POSSIBLY be more selective then getting LSP CAS just because of the relative number of persons per grade and the number accept to LSP annually (1000 i think)

but i might be getting grade sizes confused with the actual size of the school… so oops. but you’re right, your stats are a lot better than mine… so ???

has anyone heard from Stern? Seems like there are some LSP, CAS, and Gallatin acceptances out there, but I just couldn’t find a Stern one…

CONGRATS mmarsh, seattleitetonyer, and stohare2010! Enjoy NYU!

Anyone know of a 430 Math getting in?

@Jessica

my friend got into Stern yesterday over the phone. We were both at work (we work together) when he got the call so I know he’s not lying.

Hello I am from pittsburgh and wondering if anyone from western PA got anything today also what does LSP stand for?

Look through other threads! Th answer is everywhere

Instead of telling him the answer is everywhere, you could have just as easily typed out…

Liberal Studies Program.

@SleepingGrunt
I applied to CAS and my GPA and test scores weren’t that great but I had a great essay and good answers for the personal statements and I got LSPd so you can never really guess specifically what they’re looking at so don’t be discouraged!

I’m assuming he didn’t just want the spelling out of Liberal Studies Program, but instead wanted to know what it meant.

Yeah I do.

does anyone know when steinhardt is sending out letters??

@xtheevergl0w
eyes popped, jaw half-open Phone?! wow he must be some sort of amazing genius whom Stern desperately wants…I haven’t received anything yet.
Thanks for sharing the news!!

@Jessica
he isn’t. I’m not trying to diminish his accomplishment (he’s a good friend of mine) but I can message you his stats and you’ll be like wth? I think its because he said he would “be considered” for Abu Dhabi on the application. When he told me he got in he was like “yeah they said I was a candidate for NYU Abu Dhabi.” and I said “you’re not actually going to do that, right?” And he was like “What is it?” facepalm. I guess he checked the right random box on the common app, LOL.

■■■■■ colij!!! uve gotta be kidding me about ur DREAM!!! ahaha cuz i had the SAME thing happen to me LMAO! i dreamt that i got this big packet addressed to me that said New York University across the top in thin, purple letters lmao and it was a big white envelope like Stohare said cuz he was accepted. lol and then it said that i would have to wait for another day or sumthin lol and i woke up and was all aww mann…

today i called the guy that gets our mail and i got nuthin! maybe tmw : / im gnna have a heart attack if i dont get in. or just go to usc. lol ive had anxiety ALL day and started getting a headache towards the end cuz i was so worried. im better now. : ]

goin with the dreams, I had one that I was rejected to another school I applied to, Emerson, and I called the admissions officer up that was on the letter, and punched her in the face through the phone.

Don’t ask me. I had a migrane, and was slightly messed up on Excedrine a few hours before I fell asleep, and I also usually have strange dreams.

I promise there will be no punching in the face through communication devices if I am rejected from any school. :P
