Official ACT 2013 Reading Thread

Does anyone remember if they got a lot of c's for the last 2 passages of the reading section? I didn't finish in time... form 71F

On the passage about the Indian, what is the emotional of the mother? indifference or something else?

I put indifference because all she did was describe the setting there was no feeling

Sent from my SCH-I535 using CC

the author passage. What is the answer for the “chilly”?
the publisher exasperated or something else? Thank you!

I put indifference as well, and I also marked the choice for the publisher’s exasperation!

how about the langster passage was the assistant wanting to leave fast because he was going to be the co-author?

He wanted to leave (or something to this degree).

no he wanted to leave quickly since he wanted to get away from langsworth. and i thought the indian author was feeling contentment, since it said BASED on the overall passage, what’s her feeling the first paragraph? so she was contently reflecting on this. i dunno what did u guys think

was the answer to his response to langfords book idea was that he “wanted to humor langford” ?

Also- i put contentment because based on the rest of the passage she seemed satisfied with her entire life and childhood rituals. indifferent seemed too harsh for the way she described it.

I think about the assistant because he is excited to be name coauthor of langford newbook

I agree with everything posted by tigerash.

Okay, I’m pretty sure that the first indian paragraph was contentment, because she was happy and content with her life and kids. The reason the assistant said he’d tell the publisher was to humor langford. The reason he left quickly was because he wanted to get away from langford

wasn’t he excited to be the co-editor and that’s why he left?

I don’t know about the assistant thing either, I don’t really think that enough information was given to answer.

he definitely didn’t want to get away from langsford, i read the entire paragraph… he was exuberant to be the new co-editor, so why would he want to leave him?

diddly, did you put that the assistant was just trying to humor langsford, or that he really thought that it was a good idea?

I’m 90% sure that the reason he left was because he was ready to get away from langford. Earlier in the passage it talked about how he was patient but not happy with langford, and he had to write the rest of the chapter. Him being co-author wouldn’t make him want to leave earlier, due to the fact that the publisher already know and he wouldn’t gain anything from leaving earlier. In fact, we don’t know if he knew he would be co-author, considering it said langford mailed a letter saying he should be co-author.

I actually manages to breeze through the passage about the Indian woman since I’m Indian myself. Because of this, I was able to relate to most of what the passage was talking about, and this allowed me to “catch up” on time.

He was excited about being co-author because in almost the next sentence it said that he couldn’t wait to tell everyone the news.
