exaclty how did you see your essay score?

mine only shows the 4 subscores and then the composite

They don't show the writing score on here. You have to wait until your official report.

Here are my scores (in the default format expected for this thread)...

Composite: 34
English: 34
Mathematics: 30
Reading: 35
Science: 36

This was the first time I took it, with minimal preparation the day before (read ACT for Dummies book...took one practice test). So any advice for me? Thanks

-Josh

warped - i'm the same way...i dunno how i missed so many on english, and i too got 14/18 on the second subsection. Last time I scored a 35...so I'm just really confused...but the other areas more than made up for it, so I'm still happy. Just seems like English was harder this time.

Friggin dropped a point. :(

Is it just me or did the English seem wayyy harder?! My English score dropped 5 points and it has always been stable the other times I've taken it! God damn ACT makers.

I stayed the same...which makes me SO mad because 1 point higher would have made all the difference...my math went up, as I had hoped, but frickin science went down, English (supposed to be my best) went down, and reading went up...so basically everything changed around to give me the EXACT SAME SCORE AS LAST TIME.
I'm practically livid...

Yeah it's too bad they don't combine the best scores like on the SAT...

no kidding...are you sure colleges won't do that?
lol that would make everything better.

I got 17/18 on the Usage/mechanics section and 14/18 on Rhetorical skills... I got a 29... Why did the other poster who had the same subscores get a 30?

I got a 17/18 on the science and humanities part of the reading, and a 6/18 on the other one because i had to guess on the entire last passage.

brand 182--
check with your school.

some schools do combine. it's all about polishing their common set data to look its best.

My english, math and science scores went up but my reading went down from 33 to 31 :(

Noooooooo, my score aren't available yet. I guess it has to do with the fact that I took the sept act in another state. Has anyone who happened to take the act out of state as well been experiencing any difficulties?

When should I check again?

I got my score report today. How lame that I had to pay $8 for early scores and the score report arrives 2 days later!!!!

i took mine out of state and got it right away on tuesday.

I took mine out of state too and the results were available online on tuesday morning

My son took the test at a large metropolitan high school in our area and no one from that sitting has gotten their scores yet. ACT said they score them in batches so I think it's just random.

"Maybe you'd benefit more from switching your focus to something else, like writing a stellar application essay, developing your relationships with those who might write you recommendations, or devoting yourself to some extracurricular or community project to distinguish yourself in another way....Do you really want to be the kid who tested six times and barely made it in, in classes with kids who got 36 on their first try?... We think US News and World Report or whatever knows what the "best colleges" are, but really there's a best college for every student, and the name that looks the best on the diploma hanging on your wall might not be the place where you'll be happiest and most successful."

Very wise words Mrs. Ferguson, and great advice.

This is probably a stupid question, but when are scores posted online for free and when do score reports typically come into the mail? My early admission is due on October 15th so I want to know whether I should send it in or not. Is it worth the 8 bucks to see what I got?
