Well, I caved...

First time. Is that good enough for the Ivies or should I retake it in October?

^ Those are excellent scores and I will be delighted if I get similar scores. whether or not you should retake is your sole judgment.

For the ivies, you're definitely within range (I believe most ivies mid 50% ranges usually are 30-34). If you want a stronger app, give it another shot. I'm sure many other applicants will be trying two or three times, so don't limit yourself. Still, that's a great score.

When do you usually get the mailed results?

Anyone know what the curve was yet?

Composite 35

Eng: 35
Reading:36
Math:35
Science: 34

pretty darn happy

I, too, would like to know when I will be able to get the mailed results with the writing portion.

im pretty sure that is good enough for ivies, but the rest of the application is based on your essay and e.c

Just received my score, 30, and believe it or not, I am actually happy that I barely made it to the 30s. A big part of testing is mental preparation and focus, and I must admit I lacked in this aspect. Since I was assigned to a small town in pennsylvania, I had to pack up and drive from NJ at 3am, arriving there 5 min late. During the exam, I remember holding in the urge to run for the bathroom during the last two sections and constantly worring that I would have a difficult time finding my father, who drove me there, once the test was over. So, given the circumstances, I'm glad with the act experience. I was disappointed about not getting a 36 on the Eng section, which seemed like a breeze. Upon seeing a 27 for science, I wanted to grab the nearest sharp object and gouge my eyes so further misery would be spared: I didn't expect much, but I thought luck was on my side... The 31 for reading was ok since I virtually guessed every question for that devious whirlwind passage. In the end, All's well.

Can anyone comment whether a 30 would be enough for public universities like UT austin and penn state?

Thank you very much and good luck to everyone.

Finally got my scores this morning.

Composite: 33
English: 31 (Kinda perplexed by this! Usage: 18/18 and Rhet: 14/18... Anyone in the same situation about eng?)
Math: 35 (Stupid trig question with 4 answers!) lol
Reading: 29 (Expected...)
Science: 36 (Not so expected....woot!)

I went up from a 32 in June, so not too big a diff, but I was just looking to go up. I'm pretty satisfied. Anyone hear of a 36 yet?

Can someone explain what it means to get the scores hand graded?

Chet, I had the exact partition for english and got a 31 as well. Is this unusual?

JSB,
No one will know what the curve was. The September test isn't released.

If you pay the fee and have your score hand graded, is it possible that the new scores might be actually lower?

Another 33. No big deal. I really only took the test because the last one I took was without writing (state testing.)

(R&S might've been the other way around, I don't remember.)

It's creepy how my subscores stayed the same.

Is there any way to get test question-answer booklets back if you want to see what you missed? Because I have no idea how I only got a 30 on english...

Got my scores this morning; 35 composite. I don't know whether to be happy that I got a 35 (I foolishly went into the test cold and felt I did poorly afterwards) or upset that I already threw down $50 to take the test again.

omg are you f****ing kidding me? you are upset about a 35? gosh, get a life. that is an amazing score.

I'll bet you got like a 12 on reading because you definitely did not properly interpret my post.

I am kidding, but seriously, reread my post. I am upset with having spent $50 to register for the October test because I do not need to test again, not with having earned a 35.
