[] major strength/weakness: good stats (rolls eyes, even though i think they don't count for that much)/pretty boring overall, nothing too noteworthy
[] why you think you were accepted/rejected/deferred: I’m lucky ;)
[/ul]Other Factors: decent ECs, am very committed to them but i don't know if i showed that in my app.

am waiting on a few others but they are tres selective...probably deciding between tufts and northwestern.

For collegeman102-- I gotta say, i think the "Tufts Syndrome" label in your case may be slightly misguided. I also got a 1500 SAT, a 3.84 GPA, loads of ecs, 800, 750, and 640 on SATIIs and I did get in.

One more thing-- I also got into UMich, GW, and Northwestern, and waitlisted at WashU, Duke and Harvard. My main choice was between Tufts and Northwestern, and I have to admit that at first it bothered me that Tufts is seen as a second-tier school for kids who didn't get into the Ivy of their choice. However, after seeing the accomplishments of the rest of you accepted students, I am thrilled to be a part of the group. Well done-- you guys are awesome.

[] major strength/weakness: Essay + very well-rounded ECs/unspectacular grades (for Tufts, anyway) in math + sciences
[li] why you think you were accepted/rejected/defered: I think my essays had a unique voice to them and painted me as someone with a passion for learning...I had LOTS of leadership roles...also, my interviewer said that I was a perfect fit for Tufts[/li][/ul]Other Factors: Visited once and requested information from the Tufts website several times.
So excited, Tufts has amazing IR, and the experimental college is really great--it's going to be a very tough decision...

[] Why you think you were accepted/rejected/waitlisted:
[/ul]Other Factors:

I was rejected but had the same response to my alum interview. By the end of it he asked if Tufts was my first choice to which, at that point, I just flat out said "No." That might have had something to do with the rejection, but who knows? I liked the school best in Boston but I got into my first choice anyway so I'm happy about that. But they really should do something about their networking because the guy who interviewed me was clearly uninterested, not very well informed about what I was interested in, and on the whole not personalbe. Congratulations all!

The people who interview are all alumni volunteers, so that may be difficult to screen, especially when face to face contact with the admissions office is not possible.

Also, schools are somewhat reluctant to "fire" interviewers, for fear of offending alumni. However, it is always useful for them to know what student experiences are(perhaps they can use those interviewers less frequently), so if you have time you should just drop a quick email/letter describing what they did to turn you off.

the alum would never know if he was fired... he would just think there's no applicants in his area...
