I'm hearing horror stories about how dangerous the neighborhood is..should I be worried?

Tell me about the JHU campus and the percent of students who actually finish BME?

why are people so worried about the neighborhood? look at the jhu security website and facts of crimes near/on campus.. its not like a drive by every single day or something. its a city school, there is some 'danger' expected. the campus is pretty well contained, its not like NYU or BU where the 'campus' is just buildings sprawled along a street. dont worry so much about safety...jhu is a great school because of its education, if everyone was scared of it ,it wouldnt be as great as it would be...
sry wickedwildthang i dont mean to sound snappy, but a lot of people seem scared for no reason. please dont take it personally

yea i agree...theres noooo reason to be scared

living in baltimore my whole life (well...the county, but i'm in the city a lot) , i thought i should just add my two cents
1. you'll most probably be living ON campus ... campus itself is really really safe :-)
2. what you've heard about the recent death of Linda Trinh, wasn't random...she knew the guy, so don't let that scare you
3. you just have to make sure you're aware of your surroundings...that goes w/ any crime, including theft, which is common at all campus' and you'll be fine

so in summary of all that BS lol...you shouldn't worry!!

hope that helps
:-)

...well baltimore isnt so bad
but i dont like the surrounding area, very crowded, i think most of the construction work should be done by now though. and i dont know bout the security issue......
my friend almost got shot so i wouldnt be too sure
sorry to scare you guys, but umm thats just my experience, or well in this case, my friend's, and no i wont elaborate on how he "almost got shot" oh and i used to hear gunshots all the time too...hope that helped :)

"hope that helped"...***?

accepted
30 ACT
top 25% public magnet
3.96 GPA on a 4.7

hooks: I'm on reduced lunch, very poor, held a job for the last three years doing yard maintenance and I am a first generation mexican american.

I might go. It's betweem JHU and Bowdoin pretty much, unless I am blessed enough to be accepted from the Brown waiting list. Can you ski or surf in Baltimore? I know there is a bay close by.
