i did question 1-15 and left the rest blank so i am really on borderline of cutoff… anyone can pm the answers for the first 15 questions? I dont want to know the answers for 16-25, want to figure out how to do the questions on my own…thanks load

Where I can find the official solution for AMC 12B 2012? OMG? I am on the boarderline…I need to know the official answer.

the answers are online now [MAA American Mathematics Competitions - AMC](<a href=“American Mathematics Competitions | Mathematical Association of America”>http://amc.maa.org/)

how do you guys think the cutoff for 12b would be? I got 88.5
and I really want to make AIME… The cutoff for 12A is kinda normal, 94.5

I thought the exam was fairly standard as far as AMCs go (maybe a little on the bashy side, but still in the norm), but there were just so many combo and geo problems from 16 to 22 (16, 18, 22 were combo, 17, 19, 20, 21 were geo). i’m absolutely awful at combo and only okay at geo, so this was definitely not a good test for me.

@ligeo195
I see what you mean. The combos were definitely killer… I had to divert around those and come back at the end.

@seriwe
i should’ve done that instead of sinking all my time into figuring out 18 and ugly coordinate bashing 17. oh well, thankfully i got them both right.

haha i got a perfect score with 7 guesses. suck it everyone

probability of me getting a perfect score with 7 guesses… (1/5)(1/5)(1/5)(1/5)(1/5)(1/5)(1/5)=0.0000128

well, the fact that you guessed 7 problems shows us how you’ll do in the AIME.

well the fact that your a ■■■■■■ means you should go punch yourself

*you’re 10char

dammnnnn i did not do good on 12B. just borderline but I don’t think i’m going to make AIME this year :((

I’m really ****ed because I actually made five stupid mistakes on B. I didn’t even break 100 or make AIME.
Oh well, at least I qualified with my A score. Still, it would be nice not to have decreased by nearly 30 points. ):

I was wondering if AIME II is significantly harder than AIME I like B is harder than A

actually usually its the other way around, where AMC 12B is easier than AMC 12A but i guess the test creators decided to flip it the other way this year. I think AIME usually follows that same trend but correct me if I’m wrong.

I think they’re usually around the same level, though last year AIME I was way harder than AIME II…the USAMO cutoff index was 188 for AIME I and 215.5 for AIME II. Hopefully it was a fluke and they’ll be back to normal this year…

AMC12B I got 99. Do you think I will make AIME this year?

The difficulty between AIME I and II vary with each year, just like AMC12A and 12B. So it depends. Last year, for the record, AIME I was significantly harder than AIME II.

EDIT: a 99 should suffice, and though I make no promises, I wouldn’t worry.
