Official American University Fall 2013 Transfer Thread

I haven't seen an AU transfer thread 'round these parts; thought I'd start one.

Has anyone heard back yet?

still waiting. would only go if they gave me substantial aid.

Same here. Any idea when we’ll hear back? I’ve been checking my portal incessantly.

Anyone waiting to hear back?

Still waiting to hear back as well…I saw a past thread and someone posted that they got their decision about a week after they turned in their materials :/

Got admitted! Was sent an e-mail saying that “Good News was on the Way” on the 28th and received my admittance package yesterday!

I called admissions because my portal still doesn’t have a decision (I submitted everything on Feb 1st). They told me that they send decision 4-6 weeks after the application is submitted, and that they don’t do it online.

Congrats auaudrey!

@auaudrey how was the financial aid package?

@fabulous yeah my portal still doesn’t say anything about me being admitted. I submitted my common app mid february.

@caricature it didnt say anything about my financial aid package or credits that would transfer. I contacted my transfer/admissions rep so I’ll keep ya updated! But from what I heard they send out financial aid packages in may!

Hey I haven’t been active on this thread. However, today I was accepted to the School Of Public Affairs as a Political Science Major. I’m a veteran and have the G.I. Bill so financial aid is irrelevant to me until next year. My stats(for next years transfer applicants)
LaGuardia Community College graduate(NYC)
OOS Junior transfer
GPA:3.7
Hooks: Non-trad, Decorated Combat Veteran, First Gen, Low-Income Background.
PTK Member and have four honors courses and two writing intensive on my transcript.
No SAT’s and No letters of REC

American is a safety school for me, so aside from absolute disaster I will not be attending. However, the more I look at American the fonder I grow of their School of Public Affairs. They have great choices as far as degree’s are concerned and seem to be very in touch with politics. For you guys who choose to attend, if you’re going for the School of Public Affairs, I believe it’s a good choice and I wish you all the best.

P.S. They said on my letter they are going to accept 58 credits.

@ccstudentnyc
do you know where they said that? are you talking about the first sentence of the conditions and instructions page?

Yes, “a preliminary review of my credits…blah blah blah.”

How’s everyone doing?

Any news? What do you guys think of the dorms? I’ve only seen centennial, but I didn’t really like it.

@fabulous326 congrats on umd haha  i’m actually not gonna have time to visit american before I have to make a definitive decision on which school to choose. Any advice on what you thought about the dorms, campus life, or anything interesting would be appreciated!

Hey guys,

I’ve had all of my stuff in since February 19th and I still haven’t heard back yet. Hopefully I’m not the only one waiting!

@auaudrey: The dorms were my least favorite, but I was only able to see Centennial. The buildings and the campus are wonderful; great quad that is just the right size, great study abroad program, etc. I really had no problems save for the dorms. I thought the campus was the perfect size.

@coco same here, still haven’t received anything either!

@coco @caricature you’re not alone! still waiting. had my stuff in since January.
