Happy Holidays, everyone! =]

DC: :p

Soooooooo, everybody. What’s your favorite color/movie/book/food, and what’s it like where you live?

^Lame, but for some reason I’m going to oblige.

Color: Purple (not just saying that)
Movie: Avatar (still fresh from the woah-ness) & Brokeback Mountain (yes, it does appeal to straight guys too)
Book: Can’t really identify one but I guess stuff by Jhumpa Lahiri and Jonathan Safran Foer would come out tops.
Food: Okay, I believe this post has a character limit so I’ll avoid this question. :P

Heyyyy how is it lame? I’m just initiating conversation. I don’t want this thread to die! Thanks a lot for ‘obliging’.

I’d love to see Avatar sometime soon. And I approve of your last answer.

^Avatar was amazing. And this is coming from someone who usually hates science fiction.

Color: Blue… I could totally get used to the purple though (ironically, a lot of schools I’m applying to this year are purple)
Movie: haven’t been to see anything lately except New Moon… which was a less than pleasant experience. I’ve always loved Metropolis though.
Book: @srrinath: OMG, I just finished reading The Namesake… I can safely say that Jhumpa Lhahiri is amongst my favorite authors as well. Any other suggestions?
Food: don’t have one? Surprising since I’m actually pretty hungry right now.

Have you read the rest of Jhumpa Lahiri’s books? I liked Unaccustomed Earth.

Hahaha New Moon. The only part worth watching is the part where Jacob turns into a wolf.

Yay, done with my essay =) For all the days agonizing over a topic, it only took like 30 mins to write lol.
I did the literature prompt but I kinda took it in the opposite direction…hope it works :3

@QuasiProfound: OMG, I love Unaccustomed Earth! The narratives were so subtle, so rich with detail (as Lahiri always is). As an immigrant Indian myself, I can relate especially well to Lahiri’s pieces.

@lyc0r1s: Have you read Mohsin Hamid’s The Reluctant Fundamentalist?

FINALLY finished this essay. Went 150ish words over, but really I’m in no mood to cut that down. I’ve finally gotten it to a form that I’m proud of after a week of battling this thing. Besides, they’re not going to disqualify me over a fourth of a page.

I believe I exceeded the limit too. Anyway, would you even want to attend a school that would disqualify you over a petty half page?

That’s a good point. If they are that petty, I guess we’ll both find out.

Hey all! I just realized a week ago that Amherst is my #1 and should have gone with ED. =/ sigh.

@Kiterunner18: I still wish I applied ED. But alas, certainly not the case. :(

srrinath: I LOVE Jonathan Safran Foer!!

Color: Purple [Can certainly get used to seeing this color for the next four years ;)]
Movie: Too many to list. Anything with guns, cars, fight scenes, horror…I’m all over the place. Of recent flicks, the only one I can think of would have to be the Hangover. I really wanna see Avatar though.
Book: To Kill a Mockingbird, anything by Tom Robbins and Jonathan Safran Foer…Kite Runner was pretty snazzy too.
Food: I like ethnic foods…Well, anything yummy would pretty much do the trick.

@ miss_mud3r - don’t you wish you could go back in time? :(

Guess I’ll join in on the fun. . .
Color - Blue/Purple
Movie - 21
Book - The Great Gatsby
Food - Any kind of Mexican food :)

I am not at all a fan of 21 kiterunner18 haha.

Color - Blue
Movie - Fight Club
Book - The Great Book of Amber/The Great Gatsby
Food- Pizza sounds pretty good right about now

Haha yeah, Kiterunner…very much so. But then I guess I’ll leave it up to fate to decide. I mean, if Amherst doesn’t work out…I’ll cry (haha) but then I’ll get over it because I mean, it just means it wasn’t meant to happen. But the color purple is niceee. Haha

Yeahhh!! The Great Gatsby was a great book!

Color: green
Movie: Pirates of the Caribbean :3
Book: ugh hard ._. three way tie between People of the Book, The Book Thief and Alias Grace
Food: tomato basil soup from cosi YUM

I’m surprised no one mentioned Dan Brown. I have tons of friends who are crazy about his stuff.

Color: Green
Movie: So so many. I’ll say Gladiator.
Book: hard to say as well. I’d be lying if I didn’t say Harry Potter, but besides that I’ve always loved 1984 and Lord of the Flies.
Food: Depends what I’m in the mood for. Safe to say I love all types of pasta though.
