straight from horse's mouth....I'm a college counselor and common app replied to question about lateness the following way:

"If students were able to submit the application, then they will be considered on-time. Many colleges allow extra time after the stated deadline to submit. If it had been too late, the system would not have allowed the students to submit. As long as the application shows as 'Submitted' or 'Downloaded' on a student's My Colleges page, then the application has been submitted successfully."

Hi,

Thank you so much for this information. I am dealing with a related problem and would appreciate your insight:

What if my applications were submitted/accepted but I forgot to mail transcripts by the postmark deadline? Because I am doing this electronically, is the transcript already included in my counselor’s school report and therefore enough? Or do I need to mail a hard copy of the transcript asap?

another response from COMMON APP, even more music to my ears:

The exact time of submission isn’t really a factor, as long as the application was submitted. If the student was able to submit the application to a school online, then it will be considered on-time. If it had been too late, the system would have prevented the student from submitting.

Stanford, for example, displays the deadline on the Common App as 1/1/11, but the they allow students to submit up to 11:59pm tonight, 1/2/11. If their deadline had cut off at 1/1/11, the student would not have been able to submit after 1/1/11. Each school can select their own deadline cut off date, but as long as the student is able to submit the application, it will be considered on-time.

if couns doing sec report online, report can’t be sent w/o transcript attachment; if couns not sending report online, it depends on student services policy at your school; regardless, it doesn’t hurt if trans is a little late…amount of stuff colleges get is so voluminous so they’re ok with additional stuff coming late…still, your application file will be considred incomplete until everything gets in

This helps immensely. My counselor submitted the secondary report online so this makes me feel a lot better. Regardless, I will talk to her first day back to make sure everything is ok.
Again, thank you!

what about scores?
collegeboard takes forever to send scores, and I recently noticed that I failed to include one of my schools on my last score report selection. It’s Dartmouth, who has a score submission deadline of 1/1/11

am i screwed?

If that’s really the score submission deadline, then you might be skrewed.
