Since nobody made one, here is the discussion. Did y’all think the test was hard?
It was easier than I expected, is that just me? Especially the essays.
Piece of cake
It was easy. Only trouble I had was for essay #2, male figure after 1700. What did you use?
I used David and fourth of May for the male question, but I had to extrapolate a bit for that, lol.
@zacharyxavier44 I used Balzac. It wasn’t the best, but it was good enough.
@silverdrop I used David by Donatello and The Irritating Gentleman. I was going to do Chuck Close big self portrait or Magritte’s Son of Man, but I didn’t think I would be able to write enough. The short response were all easy, except I fucked up on the last one by accidentally writing about an Early Renaissance painting because I was rushed and wasn’t thinking. Overall I think I got a 5, 4 at minimum.
for the first essay I wrote about the Dome of the Rock and Column of Trajan. I had a lot to write for that because I did a project on islamic art. (which also helped on the first frq haha).
I can’t get credit for art history at the university I will be attending, so I’m not that concerned.
It was one of those either you know it or you don’t type of test. For the architecture long essay, I used Hagia Sophia and Taj Mahal. Don’t think my Taj Mahal response was at strong. For the male, I used Diskobolos and the Breakfast scene. Those were probably weak too but I just wanted to make sure I used art works that fit the guidelines. Also, I mentioned the qibla wall in my Hagia Sophia response but got confused on the question about the purpose of the mihrab and didn’t realize they did the same thing. Is the curve high for this test? What did you guys use for the da Vinci quote?
I think I got 25/35 for the image based questions 8-| . Is that bad? I nailed the ones about David though.
