**Official AP BIO 2012 Thread**

We’re doing a lecture on photosynthesis chapter tomorrow, should be fun.

^Dude, we just started the cell theory after finishing biochem … am I screwed? I’ve been in AP Bio for 1 month now :(. You guys move fast.

^Quicktip: Wait until December. If you are just finishing mitosis/meiosis then, that would be a sign that you need to start self-studying.

^We’re having our cell/organelle test in December … so yeah, I think I’m screwed.

Not screwed if you start to get ahead now. We do two chapters per week, today we did the AP lab #5 (cellular respiration), and we have test on cytology all the way to photosynthesis Monday, then Friday we have photosynthesis AP lab. In the time lapse of that week we are supposed to cover cellular communication and division.

Is everyone going to be taking Biology E or M? What kinds of things do we need to know for M?

Freshman here, trying to self study AP bio. I don’t know if I’ll take the AP test this year, but at the very least I’ll take SAT Bio M. I’ve been reading through Campbell, and I’m now on the photosynthesis chapter (ch.10 in the 9th edition). Am I working at a good pace, or should I go faster?

That’s fast enough. Make sure to test that you actually understand the material by doing questions. It may make sense when you read the text but 2 weeks later you might forget, say, the differences between microfilaments and intermediate filaments.

First Biochem test today. Much easier than expected, it seemed like it was mostly about hydrogen bonding and the properties of water as a result.

My teacher is so slow. We aren’t even halfway through Biochem yet :/

we r on ch 7 of campbell

but we did 22-24 *(evolution)

Our class is focusing on the cell first (after quick go through of basic biochem)…test Friday

We are almost done with lab #1 Osmosis and Diffusion

We’re doing the lab with enzymes and catalase, even though we haven’t learned about this yet…

I like the class, we’ve done 3 AP Labs thus far, and well, we’re already going into Genetics unit.

We just got done with the DNA replication lab. I have a feeling all of my AP classes are moving much quicker than everyone elses. DNA replication test tomorrow wish me luck.

We are finishing up Chapter 16. I think that’s a good pace.

Chapter 16?? We are just about done with Chapter 5 of Campbell (Macromolecules).
I feel a lot of self-studying going on for me come April (hell month for self-studiers  )

Were on chapter 8 of Campbell. I think on Monday we will be starting Chapter 9.

Those of you who are taking classes, do you eventually plan to read the entire textbook or just certain chapters?
