same here... visiting this summer.

I was going to visit Cornell in the summer but then i heard some negatives about summer visits to ANY college, so i am postponing it for October.

Yeah, not a fan of Cornell--or its suicide rate. Wait, what's so bad about summer visists?

i'm applying to cornell early decision too, just thought I'd let everyone know =) lol

meh, cornell is a weak ivy league. :p

... but, we're still all part of the ancient eight. ;)

Cornell doesnt have a suicide rate. NYU does, i havent heard of Cornell having a high suicide rate.....

Anyway....

Summer Visits: There is nobody on campus, that deprives the visitor of the chance to acquire a taste of the "feel" and community of the college. Especially for a school like Cornell where the diversity and the people and the size make it an Ivy like no other. During the summer, you will see an empty college...All you will see is beautiful summery scenery in Ithaca for example, or Princeton, NJ. The impression will be quite different with people actually there. Also, its important to converse with students and ask them essential questions that no admissions officer or faculty member will tell you openly. All these factors contribute to a successful, fulfilling, and memorable visit. After talking with many Cornellians, I have come to the conclusion that a summer visit is NOT as good as an October/November visit where students are in session, busing services are available for groups of students to go together and visit. For example, Cornell has a busing service from NYC to take prospective students to campus and sleep over there with a Cornellian. They learn from that Cornellian, expereince all the things regular Cornellians do daily and they also learn from their fellow seniors in HS visiting with them. I will do that this October.

Ok say i got 60/100 on the MC and half the possible essay points. Is this a 3 or 4?

Cornell = "weak ivy league".....i resent that....I think Harvard/Princeton/Yale are repeatedly number 1,2,3 for their money-pocketing, elitism, and snobbery. I highly respect Cornell for their inclusiveness, diversity, well-roundedness, and its large campus that embraces a lot of different people. That is what a real education is all about. "Open doors, Open hearts, Open minds" is Cornell's motto.

lol, bklyn, what are you stats?

SMOKEY: that's a 4, congrats =)

I imagine that I actually have the same exact scores.

Oh, it's ostensbile that NYU does--but what about the "bridge jumping" tradition over at Cornell?

smokeylarue, i'm inclined to say high 4 even...

My stats are as follows:

94 avg = 3.9 GPA
SAT = unknown at the moment; taking in June
Taken AP American and AP Biology
Will take AP Physics, AP English, and AP Euro
SAT II's = just took
Rank = top 8% ; 62/794 = we have a very large class in NYC so u cant compare with a senior class in Kentucky with 300 ppl, lol

Extracurriculars (my strongest of my record)
-Worked in a medical research hospital; worked on estrogen-related research on Lupus myself. Completed a study; was referred by the Department head that my research needs to be "further examined for possible new discoveries"
-Currently working in another laboratory; researching epilepsy with PhD's as my co-partners; will publish a medical dissertation to be probably nationally published
-President and Founder of Young Democrats at my school
-Will work on a Democratic Mayoral campaign in NYC this summer
-Directed a cancer fundraising campaign; selling wristbands
-Politically active; member of NY State Young Democrats
-Editor of school Biology Journal
-Poems published in national writing contests
-Worked in a hospital as a translator for Russian patients; assisted Doctors in Cardiology Dept.
-Debate Team Captain
-NYC Citywide Model Congress Chairman

And most importantly---VERY ambitious, motivated, and goal-oriented :)

Hm, despite the fact the Biology room just turned into the Pro-Cornell room...I'm just kidding--good for you though; what are you a junior?

yes, im a junior. Sorry about the cornell thing...i just have college fever, lol...im really pumped...

nicee, good luck man, =)

LOL...well..i try.....but its wat i love.....thats why i dont like Harvard-Princeton-Yale....SAT DOES NOT MEASURE INTELLIGENCE...someone needs to tell them that.........
