@JuicyMango Why not go for the usual Bio route?
@JuicyMango where do you want to go? And I highly doubt a 4 would stop you from going to med school if you make up for it in other ways like a 5 in Bio.
@Frigidcold: Are you a fellow sophomore taking this class?
@APScholar18: I am actually going to take AP Bio next year, so I’m trying both out. I would like to attend UCLA medical school or a school of that caliber; the competition is really fierce so I’m just worried that a 4 isn’t enough since I’m not really special in anything else extracurricular wise.
@Kazoo98: Sure :). What part of cross sections gives you difficulty? Is it in deciding what formula to apply, or something else? Is there maybe an frq question that gave you trouble so I can show you what to do?
@JuicyMango I guess the concept. A cross section is a slice where that is one side of some other shape, correct? For example, evaluating the area of a shape with a cross sections of a right isosceles triangle would yield what between the curves of f(x) top and g(x) bottom?
How do you do intervals of convergence and checking the end points?
@Kazoo98
Intregrate 1/2(x)^2, each slice of infinetely small length is a triangle.
@kolaman17
Generally ratio test, substitute the endpoints back into the given equation.
@Frigidcold by substitute back into the given equation do you mean an or |an+1/an|
@kolaman17: I think this will help you: https://e.edim.co/9515649/summary_of_series_tests.pdf?Expires=1430795746&Signature=gLa0qCaWkM0BdQt5EwQux2S9E2g4zZoUFR3zoiMsiqw3vnlkkCGsXxR41K4O9mFh-UOJJOYnZMl~tQlT4azef4uUKaBbY~HaQJ-rVQIEY-yU~PQQZQYG-kzxppKYhlfEy9f0MTRJmKfDsY~SnBh~ryawWjartEaqZEe8TGPDPFlGV4NF4n0dc9zCa1Up9WkF7Hq-uxHtQxnlIn6CJot7AWiRcSfIGzuaIza5CC~NbTUZLRPD5EadIMzMU1cMdDKv3kt6kMEBtw7ffqm7axjss6r3m24pxH6vnSNuxnDdPOchEhK4A76VOowJC2DAO-yVKz3fysH4FzVtqV~F-kCx2Q__&Key-Pair-Id=APKAIJNVNRBLLSTGN23Q
@JuicyMango Long link you got there. Lol
@Frigidcold: Is that the general formula for the cross-sectional area between an f(x) and g(x)?
Practice cross-sections------>http://www.usciences.edu/~lvas/Calc2/Volume_x-axis.pdf
@Frigidcold: Yeah lol, I don’t know why it’s so long, but it’s definitely helpful :P.
OMG I AM FREAKING OUT
What if I forget the logistic model? Or the Newton-Rhapson equation? Or difference of IVT vs. MVT or linear approximation vs. differential approximation??
@JuicyMango No, just triangles like he was asking for.
@JuicyMango that link didnt help, it doesnt say anything about intervals of convergance, I just need to know how to test the endpoints.
@garyasho2 Low-key, what’s the Newton-Rhapson equation? xp
@Frigidcold it’s xn+1 = xn - f(xn)/f’(xn)
@garyasho2 What’s it used for?
