Official AP Calculus Thread for 2009

Wait, what tests did you all take? For my AB exam, FRQ, I got a region one and I was super confused how to do part B of it. I thought it was hard. MC I thought was very simple, but FRQ, some of them just killed me.

so any predictions on the curve for BC? Given the reaction in my room and what I’ve heard from other schools it seems like it ought to be relatively generous.

I agree with the most of you here. AB MC was definitely harder than the BC one. Last FR was disgusting…

Ah crap, just realized I made a stupid mistake on the area/volume stuff. REALLY stupid. sigh
At most, I’ll just get two points off.

A ton of people confused themselves over with the last FRQ…including me.

^^I don’t remember an area/volume problem?

I think the curve is going to be harsh… I hope it is generous though… knock on wood

Took AB Calc Test.

Non Calculator MC- Great.
Calculator MC- TERRIBLE.
FRQs. Terrible.

How did everyone else do?

(Guessing I got a 3. :[)

I thought the last bc frq was some intense stuff lmao. The rest of the exam, however, I found was very straightforward. I ran a little short on time on the parametric frq, but other than that I thought it was easy.

^ Same as you, except I did fine on the FRQs (except the last one, lol).
I’m pretty sure I’m not getting a 5 (by roughly guessing what I got right)…might barely make it. Otherwise its a high 4-ish range for sure.

so did anyone write “why so serious?” I totally forgot about it…

I wrote “THIS IS SPARTA!” on my #6 free-reponse question :p

I didn’t think “why so serious?” is that funny…

Don’t know why, but it was a complete opposite in my case :D. I couldn’t concentrate during the MC, so I didn’t do well on it. I found the calculator part confusing :-s. I kept turning the page to find a question that I felt comfortable to do. I was kind of short of time :(. For the FRQs, I did the non-calculator part better. But yeah, it was better than I thought :).

I was also surprised that I barely saw a volume problem on the test. The only volume problem that I could remember was a parametric one.

@user3725: Are you serious? lol

You had to use volume for the diver one?

no there wasnt any volume, area, or polar on the free response. the diver problem was just integrals and transfering parametric to rextangular and stuff.

There was no volume involved in the diver one…

that’s what I thought. vnese scared me…whew!

BC didn’t seem to test a lot of stuff

 • By parts
 • Partial fractions
 • Volume using disks/washers
 • Other stuff I can’t remember

Overall it was a decent test.

well there was parts on that big a** long answer box that took up a whole page.

Yeah, I was expecting a Volumes of Revolution question or a Related Rates Problem with some optimization as the AB/BC question. I knew and expected that there was going to be a Taylor Series one since it’s on there almost every single year and there almost always is some sort of parametric question. I thought there would be some logistic growth question or Newton’s law of heating/ cooling.

^ and there was.
