Official AP Calculus Thread for 2009

You guys think this test had the hardest FRQ since the past few years? In general, did a lot of people do poorly? I really, really, hope the curve is generous and I can squeeze out a 5. The last calc FRQ and last non-calc FRQ destroyed me.

To much embarrassment, I messed up on the last part of #1. I did my math wrong for one of the justifications. I feel a bit down now after reading this posts. I thought I did okay, but sigh, I don’t know now. The AB test last year was wayyy easier, obviously. At this point, I think a 4 will do, but a 5 would be nice. =/

for #3 a) did it ask for the maximum distance or the time at which the distance was max?

the taylors FRQ was gay–it was so diff -.-! XD i am not even confident that i got a) correct, though i did bs up to c), i iddn’t bother with the pt of inflection.
probably good enough for a 5

I did all 6 of last year’s(AB) FRQ’s and I got 9’s on all of them.

This year, I don’t even think I got one 9.

I was planning on self-studying for AB but they signed me up for BC. I was definitely not prepared for BC so I didn’t take it… I’m hoping I’ll be able to take the retake.

I really hope it isn’t harder.

for #3 a) did it ask for the maximum distance or the time at which the distance was max?

ANYBODY??

Yeah can we retake the test if we want to, even if we took the test today?
I want to do the retake.

I’m pretty sure you can cancel your score and take it next year, but you can’t the test more than once a year.

The test later in May, this year.

okay nvm then haha

what I said still stands, you’re not supposed to take it more than once a year. the retake is supposed to be for people who weren’t able to take it on the test day.

It asked for the maximum vertical distance. I got 12 point something.

okay, so i have to ask this question for someone. if a person took the AB exam and:

  • answered 18 on MC part 1 (likely all right; no guesses; the rest were skips)
  • answered 12 on MC part 2 (likely all right; no guesses; the rest were skips)
  • got < half credit on FRQs 1-3 and 6, > half credit on 4, and around half credit on 6
what would be this person’s score approximately? this person is hoping for a 3.
i feel bad for her, she works so hard atimes and had really hoped for a 5…
but things just didn’t work out for her this time around, and now she just really wants to pass…

mid-3 to low 4 i think. I calculated, but the points you give me for FR are a bit vague

■■■ ■■■ ■■■ ■■■.

If I got (self-calculated…dunno how accurate I am) around a 58-67…I probably got a 4 right? With a slight chance for a 5 depending on the curve?

@jerrry4445: okay thanks!

another question, for myself and my friend: how generous are the graders in giving points for mistakes?

Points for mistakes?

No points for mistakes…
They follow a strict rubric for grading.

A dumb question:
Can anyone show me how AP Calc BC is graded? What is the maximum score on BC?
