*****Official AP Chemistry After-test Thread*****

most of my friends agree that it was considerably harder.

(comparing to the past ap mc's)

"anyway if people do worse, theres a better curve"

Exactly - more so with the FR.

Yes, these were harder than 2003 MC, but overall they weren't extremely hard. Quite a few questions (8) on stuff that most classes probably don't cover extensively (organic, color descriptive), and the beginning matching ones were more difficult than usual, but overall not too bad. Expecting 60-65 right. FR was overall good.

I died on the multiple choice.then I got resurrected and killed the free response

this is the first time i couldn't balance an equation. omg...

What are most of you expecting on MC? And how many omits?

Me: 60-65 right, 0 omits.

The MC wasn't so bad. I felt like I was just doing stoich again and again...I kinda wished I had my calculator, though. I'm so lazy. :o

Free response was insultingly easy. Lots of time to spare.

yeah lots of time to spare

:)

okay i did well on FRQ 5 (i liked the question and topic) it reminded me of being a caveman. 6 was okay. i should have not even TOUCHED 7. after i saw 8 i was like (OMG I COULD HAVE DONE THEM ALL!!!!!) my fortes in chem are thermochem, energy, and electrochem, but nooooo i took a gamble on the the other ones. that sucks. i think i got a 3 or 4. hopefully 5 if i cranked it up. at least i beat the s*** out of psychology.

45-55 right, 10 omits.

i got 35-45 right, about 12 omits.

60-65 right, 2 omits

did very well on free response, except for #5

the MC was easier than the ones i had in my practice book. i got most formulaic questions right cause thats what i studied most. i died on reaction rates for frq, though; i think thats what it was. i did better on MC than in my practice exams. why people complain bout #5. i liked it.

out of 15 on reactions, i think i got probably 9-10 depending. ummmmm im going to use a psych. term now: i always use major heuristics on those. if something feels right, i put it. sometimes its right, sometimes not.

ummmmm the organic stuff was EASY today. so yeah, one FRQ owned me and then one i only got half right on (ironically, that was the one i chose to do, #7). had i done #8, i would have gotten almost full points (i was about to scratch out all my #7 work and do #8 but i knew time was short). so instead of having done #8 and being sure of a 4 almost a 5, i am more feeling a 4 regular, if not the low side of a 4.

I think the MC was ok. I skipped 7. (Tigeruppercut, we took the 1999 test for practice and thought it was the hardest one ever. The whole class felt the same way.) I chose #3 and #8 for FR. I usually BS a lot for free response, but since I thought I could get some partial credit, I just wrote stuff down. I definitely got no FR completely right, but at least I answered every question. About that formal charge, I had no idea what it was. The beginning MC (matching stuff) was hard.

ok, i remember i put down i got 39 wrong on the 1999 one b/c i totally bsed it. i remember i got a 5 on that test b/c i actually did the free response and only got 1 or 2 pts off on each one. i ended up with a 5 w/ 107 as the cutoff.

just to calm myself down...i think i got like 20 wrong at most on today's MC which is a lot considering i only got 7 wrong on the 2002. but the FR i definitely "aced", except that flame question. so....definite 5? (make my day, man)

Hmm....
MC was fairly simple after the scary 1st few problems lol :) i didn't kno whether or not i should know them because i haven't taken AP Chem lol !
I answered all except maybe 4 and i think i probably got 10-20 wrong

I'm pretty sure i absolutely nailed the first FRQ
the second one i did most of it right... except on c i probly got partial credit and on d) no credit.
5) probably got 50% or more :)
6) :( don't ask i had no clue i wrote about how it would glow more or less depending on the gas :)
I also didn't know at all how to find out which soln would make which precipitate... so i used some analysis and process of elimination in the table to figure it out (the only thing i knew was that no nitrates would make a precipitate :) )

8) I thought this was fairly easy i think i probably got at least half the points ... i didn't get alot of it like the sign of delta G question and justify ..

Uh-oh...I don't remember doing a flame thing. Was that one of the required ones?

I hate the first MC ones... they always mess me up... alot.

:</p>

lab FR - #5 it was a glowing splint test the lab FR was the easiest of them all IMO - that and #7
