*** Official AP Chemistry Thread 2013-2014 ***

Next year, the chemistry exam will be revised. Will this be like how it was for AP Biology? Harder? Easier? Here is the official statement from the College Board:

It seems as thought the revisions will be similar to those of AP Biology.
The number of multiple choice questions is decreasing to 60, and instead of 6 similar-size FRQs, there are 3 long FRQs and 4 short FRQs.
Basically, it seems that the course is going away from the traditional approach of “here are some numbers, find an answer” to a more theoretical approach, which involves more writing and less solving.
Personally, i think that the new exam will be more difficult for me, since I am not good at FRQs.
Here is the new course description:

I’m supposed to be taking AP Chem next year… Either that or AP Physics B.

Hahaha “the six big ideas” yeah in bio we had the four big ideas. Don’t worry you’ll probably just have to look at a bunch of graphs of chemical reactions or something and analyze&interpret them.

Basically, they killed AP Bio and they’re probably gonna kill AP Chem.

LOL what the heck?
From the course description:

Language of reducing agent and oxidizing agent is beyond the scope of this course
and the AP Exam.

Calculations of molality, percent by mass, and percent by volume are beyond the
scope of this course and the AP Exam.

Wow, they really did kill AP Chemistry.

This was already made

@lonelynerd wth! those are so easy and vital to chemistry…what the heck is going on

Finishing up AP Bio and optimistic about AP Chem! lol
