I’m using Barron’s. I’ve always found it the best preparation and haven’t checked anything else yet, though.
Hey. I am using 5 steps to a 5.How difficult are the review questions compared to the actual test?
@bantzking I have the 2012-2013 copy of “5 steps to a 5” and I’ve done a section or two in it although it’s not my primary review book. The calculation-based questions seem to be on par but, the conceptual questions seem too easy. On the real exam they look for application of the concept but, the book is more straightforward about what they’re asking you than the test will be.
Disclaimer: I don’t have the latest version so it might have changed. I’m also pretty good at conceptual questions so it might just seem to be easier for me but, as you work with your book you’ll begin to see if it’s true or not.
what about PR 2015? is it too easy? too hard?
Where can I find solutions or answer explanations to the 26 multiple choice questions provided in the Course Description for the new AP Chemistry course?
How many official tests for the revised version of AP Chem are available?
Answers (without explanations) are in the same file as the questions. AFAIK, the College Board did not provide explanations, so ask your teacher to explain.
Does anybody have the Official Practice Exam released by the College Board last year? I asked my teacher and she was unaware to what I was referring. If so, please PM me. Thank you!
MODERATOR’S NOTE:
From the College Board:
Please do not ask for or post practice exams; the post will only get deleted and the poster warned.
Where can I get help with AP Chemistry online? Like, live, reliable tutoring? Asking my teacher isn’t really an option for me.
I got 12/26 on the official collegeboard sample questions and I don’t even know what I don’t understand
Hey everyone, I’ve been self studying this course and I’m doing okay (by that I mean I’d rate my confidence about a 3/10). I think the reason I’m worried is because of the lack of exposure to the new format of exams. I’ve taken all the available released mc’s from previous years but what I really need is a released mc in the new format.
With that in mind, does anyone know where I can get the 2014 released multiple choice any where? I know its a long shot but it would really help.
Thanks guys
Really?!?! Did you not read my post 2 above yours??
Any one know what’s going on regarding lewis dot structures? In the barron book, it explicitly states that “all electrons must be shown. Line structures with only lone pairs shown are often used by more advanced chemists. Line structures will receive zero credit on the exam.” However, my chem teacher, who is not the greatest, strongly believes that we should draw line structures. What’s the dealio here?
Hey guys! I’m also taking the AP Chemistry exam in the next couple weeks. I’m honestly just praying that I can salvage out a 3, the class has been pretty rough for me despite having a great teacher. I’m using Princeton Review to prep, honestly not sure if it’s the best book for the revised exam (I also purchased 5 steps to a 5) but I just am most familiar w Princeton Review via my other AP exams and the ACT. Good luck everyone!! I’m sure within the next couple weeks I’ll be coming back here begging for last minute help.
@ineffable From what I’ve seen, for any example FRQs involving Lewis structures that didn’t require you to fill them in (usually asking the VSEPR shape of a specific atom in a molecule), the structures appear in dot form (showing every electron). It’s probably best to heed by that College Board example in order to gain full credit.
@niletheriver thanks a ton, I’d hate to get points off on something like that.
Hi, does anyone know the approximate breakdown percentage of topics for the exam? Are there more questions on certain topics, like kinetics or acids/bases?
Sorry, I did read the 5 pages prior to this one and didn’t see anything past “Where can I find solutions or answer explanations to the 26 multiple choice questions provided in the Course Description for the new AP Chemistry course?”… I don’t think the rest loaded. Thanks though.
no but for real: how accurate at PR 2015 AP Chem practice tests?
