***** OFFICIAL AP English Literature 2014-2015 *****

MC was hard, essays were absolute cake. Crime and Punishment came in clutch. Didn’t even read it lol

Oh my gosh, so what did you guys think of the last question? I thought it was almost too easy and they were looking for a more challenging approach. I had prepared a lot of books so it wasn’t very hard to make a choice.

Yeah I agree. Which of the essays did you think was easiest though?

I honestly don’t know how I did… None of the books I reviewed last night applied to the prompt so I had to use Invisible Man. We read it for clas but I think my essay was bad. :frowning:

I think Frankenstein would be good

i felt really good about the test overall…there were a few mc that i didnt understand some of the choices in so i probably got them wrong, and i think the first passage was the most difficult, but I ended up pulling through i think. Also, i thought all of the essays were fine, i wrote a solid response to all three. Much better than AP Calc yesterday LOL

I feel good about it overall. I think I got a low 5 or a high 4. I used A Thousand Splendid Suns for the open essay. I think the first two passages were the most difficult for MC, but overall it wasn’t bad (though I never know what to think about the MC - sometimes I think I do well and don’t do so well, and vice versa). How long were everyone’s essays? My shortest was just over three pages (there were like…two lines on the fourth page) and the other two were three and a half pages.

@evan241 Uhh… all of mine were 1.5 pages with 5 paragraphs. Did you skip lines? It said on the back not to.

I think I did pretty good. From what I looked up after the test I guessed correctly on the few MC I wasn’t 100% sure about. First two essays were pretty solid and I decided to go with my gut and used The Stranger by Albert Camus for the third essay. I read it outside of class and absolutely loved it, then the third prompt was perfect for it so I just decided to go with it instead of some of the more obvious book choices (ehem Lord of the Flies ehem) that I knew my classmates would pick.

@BassGuitar I didn’t skip lines

All of my essays were at least 3 pages. Longest was the book response and it was 4. I thought the jest FRQ was super easy. I loved it honestly. Second could have been better but I think I did alright. Third was okay. I predict a max of 4, absolute lowest a 3

I used A Game of Thrones as my novel for my third novel because it fit better than any of the books I knew it had read from the list. Will that hurt me?

I think I did decent. The older lit poetry MC was what I struggled with. The rest was not so bad. I used Frankenstein for the third essay. Too generous of a prompt, really.

Anyone else go with Merchant of Venice for Question 3?

MC wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. As long as I didn’t completely miss the point of the passages, I think I have a very good chance at a 5. Same with the first 2 essays.

I’m quite surprised that CC is suddenly enforcing TCB policies, as I’ve seen many past threads (last year AP exams) riddled with discussions that may very well have violated their policies.

“College Confidential is not party to any agreements between TCB and test takers, and isn’t responsible for enforcing TCB’s policies.” http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-act-tests-test-preparation/80-check-the-ap-rules.html

Good for you to enforce them now I guess…

I think the MC was really easy, I was very happy with it. I went with King Lear for Q3.

So i didn’t feel very confident on the MC, and each of my FRQs was only 2 pages. What do you guys think I’ll get?

@water707 Someone said that 2 years CB started paying them to enforce that rule. Although last year was open discussion.

@aypaytv
It’s easy to not feel confident about the multiple choice; I never feel confident, but I consistently score in the 40s. You may have done very well. Also, I saw a sample response on the college board website that was scored a 9, but was just under two pages long. If your essays were good, length won’t matter.

Just wait until July. There’s no point in stressing about in now. You probably did fine.
