@TP2000 Thanks I just took the Barrons online practice test and it was A LOT harder (maybe Princeton review is more similar to the Rubenstein book?) Anyway, I got a 4 on the barrons test. (I wonder why the princeton review was so much easier?) But Iāll take that one that you gave the link to too Thanks so much!
Anyone who took the test last year and got a 5. What books did you use? Will reading through Princeton review be suffice? Iām only devoting 3 days to studying because I have 6 other exams to study for.
A few other seniors and I are taking this course this year. We have 5 seniors (all very smart), the valedictorian sophomore, and the rest is about 12 freshmen. What Iāve learned is that this course covers A LOT of concepts across various subjects, which is presumably why they use it as a freshman AP introductory course. I would strongly suggest taking this class. My teacher is terrible, but I find the class fascinating enough that I manage to study and it feels more like a hobby than a chore. I feel as though I will do fairly well on the AP exam because 1) of the decent curve and 2) because of all the knowledge I have learned in other subjects. There are quite a bit of overlapping sections from APUSH, honors Biology, honors English classes, and some things are just pure common sense. I am reviewing using Kaplan and Crash Course. Kaplan leaves out some models, but Crash Course supplements what it leaves out. Iām hoping for a 5, but as long as I get a 3 then Iāll be happy because 1) my teacher is a joke
2) college credit maxes at 3
3) I donāt care much for my schoolās pass rate and
4) I plan to do a lot of extra drawings on the test, since I normally answer all the FRQs in about 30 minutes.
So my advice is to just not stress. And for Godās sake do not feel obligated to give a ln introduction in the FRQ response. If the question asks what subsistence agriculture is then all you have to say is āSubsistence agriculture is when the farmer grows food to feed his own family, and it is not done for profit.ā Literally. The second half being left off would probably still give you credit.
AP exam is in 15 days. Still have 2 more units to go
@HelloThereHola I think that at this point you should just study the units on your own. Is this your teacherās first time teaching this class?
Has anyone of you read the entire Rubenstein book? Because I did and since Iām also taking AP US History, I think I might get like a 4 or hopefully a 5. I always do good in the FRQs and I always get like three mistakes in the chapter tests.
What could I possibly do more to get a 5?
I have not yet started studying for this test. What are some things that I should do in order for me to get at least a 3, hopefully a 4?
Yeah, does anyone have any tips? Iām really awful at this classā¦
Iām self studying, and about a month ago I went through Princeton Review and took notes on everything (I plan to go over them), and I also will be going through Ethel Woodās study guide. Will this be enough for me to get a 5, or should I get Barronās Flashcards as well?
Iāve gotten Cās and Dās for TWO WHOLE SEMESTERS. Is there even any way for me, a person who is NOT a genius, not too interested in history or human geography, for that matter, but is willing to work hard for the last week before AP exams (with barons and PR) to get a 5???
Anything is possible, but in this case, Iām going to say extremely unlikely. Last year only 11% of the test takers scored a 5, and if youāre not interested in the subject by your own admission, I canāt see you pulling it off. But, best of luck.
Anybody else taking APHG exam next week that needs to cry/vent?
I honestly bsāed everything for the class and donāt remember anything, so I think Iāll be doing both.
Any tips on how to go about the massive amount of information in a week? I think itās too late to memorize all the terms now
This is the only test Iām resigned to get a 1 on
I have a very helpful teacher (teaches well and gives practice tests and frqās frequently to make us feel comfortable for the APHG exam. She gives us so many works (home notes, study guides, etc) just so for us to read the book. And I think that reading the whole book is, of course, a huge help to get a 5, or at least a 4.
I use the PR to study and I also memorize and familiarize the terms. Iām pretty confident in getting a 5 because I find the APHG interesting, especially Population and Religion.
Try some practice tests from CollegeBoard to help you get the gist of the exam. Good luck to all of us!
I am kind of nervous about the FRQ portion of this exam. On the 2001 exam I ended up with a 67/75 on the multiple choice but a 5/12, 6/9. and 11/12 on the FRQs, bringing down my raw score to a 94, which is a low-mid 5. However on the 2006 released exam, I got a 68/75 MC and a 5/8, 6/8, and 6/6 on the FRQs (why would anybody place a call center in Arkansas in the first place lol), giving me a 102 composite. I ended up with roughly a 101 composite on the Princeton Review 2015 practice test #1, however I donāt think that this a reliable measure, since PRās exams are way too easyāeverybody seems to be using Barronās, however all I have are class notes, Rubenstein, PR, and REA Crash Course. I got these scores with about 15 minutes of studying for each exam tops, and am going to hit the books this week.
Based off of these composite scores and my resources, do I have a high likelihood of getting a 5 on the real deal? What should I do to prepare best for FRQs?
Thank you so much everybody. Best of luck on Fridayās test.
Edit: I currently have a borderline 98/99 year average in the class, however this is due in part to the fact that our grade is heavily inflated by easy projects/vocab counting for test grades. Thanks!
@ish512 Honestly. Last year, the AP Human Geography Multiple Choice was harder than all of the practice test I took for college board and such. But, the FRQās for last year was super easy. Honestly, you seem like an intelligent person who studies and therefore, I believe you have a high possibility of getting a 5. Make sure to study on agriculture.
I bet they might do a demographic transition model or a population pyramid this year as an FRQ. You guys are so lucky having the test on a Friday-- xD. Good Luck!
@Kysanx Thanks. My teacher drilled demographic transition/population pyramids into our heads last semester, so I find that stuff the easiest of everything we have done. Ag and Urban are my weakest units, so I will definitely study for those the most this week.
Oh my gosh. Agriculture appeared a lot. Like a lot. Models and Theories also. Also, thereās a thing called āReverse Hierarchical Diffusion.ā
Hey! Thank you for the honest reply, I really appreciate it. Right now, I have an 86% in the class, but Iām cramming like crazy and Iām going over the models and etcā¦is there any possible way I can get a 4?
