***Official AP Language 2013-2014 Discussion***

@cramthyme I’d be willing to read it over

what percentage of students get 5’s on these every year?

i feel rather confident right now, kinda nervous it’s a false sense of confidence though because i generally get 7, 8, and 9’s on my practice essays and score 40+ points on the mc.
either way we all got this guys!

Good luck, everyone! On the one practice exam I took (whole thing) I got a 125. Hope the magic works tomorrow.

I’m pretty sure the cutoff is 104 and not 111 but, of course, I could be wrong.

I am particularly having mixed feelings about the exam tomorrow. I am fairly great at writing, scoring 8’s and 9’s this entire year. However, I am horrible at the multiple choice section. I feel that I speed through it and cannot simply get answers correct. I’ve come to believe that this test is highly subjective; however, I could be wrong. I am taking the AP Stats exam tomorrow too, sooo please please please. Pray for my sanity.

Good luck to everyone who is taking the exam tomorrow!
This year, I had an amazing teacher who has been an AP reader for over the past 10 years. He knows very well how the essays are scored, so he has taught us how to effectively write an essay. I’m a decent writer. I’ve gotten mostly 6’s and 7’s on in-class essays (that have been past AP essays). My class took the final (a practice AP Exam) and I was 2 points a way from a 4. For the first time I got an 8 in one of my essays.
For some, getting a 3 or a 4 is not very impressive when compared to getting a 5. But all I really care about is passing this exam. After all, one only needs to get half of the MC correct and upper scores for the essays in order to qualify for a 3/4.

Regardless, I am confident (and I hope you guys are as well). I’m particularly excited about the Synthesis and Open question essays. I’m very good at those.

I have just finish the exam! The multiple choice part is not very hard. Good luck to everyone who is taking it in several hours!

You got any tips for it ViolaBB

Does anyone have any answers or essay prompts?
please i really need this.

I guess I can’t really discuss the questions here (according to what collegeboard says). But both the multiple choices and essay questions are quite normal. Just relax and good luck!

Is it possible by googledocs or email? please im really worried cause my teacher retired in the mid of the year and we had a substitute who doesnt teach

I don’t think collegeboard will release the exam even before it finishes. AP language exam is more or less a test of your level of reading and writing. You’ll do well if you can master the language even if you haven’t got enough techniques! Be confident of yourself

If you’ve taken it already I doubt it’s the same version Americans will take in a few hours!

Yeah… But the collegeboard website says the form b exams for international students are provided prior to 2012 exam administration. Kinda confusing…

So how were the essays?

Good luck today!

@Awflapjackz You could do much poorer on the MC (like 65-70%) and still get a 5 if you’re getting 7s and 8s, according to the 2007 curve, depending on how many 8s you get. According to <a href=“AP English Language Test Score Calculator - AP Pass”>http://appass.com/calculators/englishlanguage</a>, if you get 1 8 and 7 s, you must get at least 65.4% correct (34/52)

On the other hand, if you get 2 8s and 1 7, you can get away with 60% accuracy.

@terrapin45‌ awesome, thanks!

Very easy exam.
