If you are asked to write an editorial or a letter or some other format and you write a regular essay, how badly will that effect the score for that essay?

Don’t think I did too well. I got a 34 on the ACT reading and an 11 on the essay, but this is so much different lol.

I wrote 2 pages front and back for two of the essays and 1 and a half pages for the other, but it was mostly BS. I hated the rhetorical strategy. D:
The MC also seemed hard, but I’m used to only missing 3 or 4 in reading type tests so I’m not sure how well I did on an AP type scale.

I’m an international student, so I took the Form B. We had the same passage as the diagnostic test in CliffsNotes’s prep book lol (a passage about American colonies by Crevecoeur) It’s an easy test :)

first passage imo was quite difficult, i remember i got C for the first three and nearly gave up

essays were very good–i actually enjoyed writing the last one

I thought the test was easy! The mc and essays were so much easier than the practice tests my teacher gave us. I wrote 4 pages for the synthesis and 3 pages for the ra and argumentative. I think I forgot to source some of my evidence in my synthesis essay, I did not understand the rhetorical analysis at all but I think I bs’d it well enough to get me a 7 and the argumentative was hard to come up with examples for so I only relied on logic and a small reference to some inventor. I forgot my concession for the argumentative though and I feel like kicking myself because I had 10 minutes left over :(

I did 3 pages for each essay. I almost qualified for the argumentative before I realized that we couldn’t - thank the lords.

I felt it was fair, but I struggled with the MC. I’m hoping for a 4 - if I’m lucky a 5. Probably a 3.

I thought the multiple choice was hard…
@davenmame i did the same thing… i hope i don’t get points off for that
@dopecake same here!! i hated the first passage

The third essay was so much fun to write. I really loved it enough that I might order my free response booklet back…

The first multiple choice passage was difficult, but the others were quite straightforward.

Can we make a doc? I want to know how I did before July.

Yeah can someone make a doc please

Yeah someone needs to make a doc. That first passage though :((
The rest of the mc wasn’t that bad. I really liked the essays, with the rhetoric being the easiest. One of the examples I used for the argumentative was physics based, so I’m worried that the English teachers grading it won’t understand. But I’m feeling a definite 4 or a likely 5.

please someone make a google doc if knew how to i would :/

@singgus I don’t know if I’m just hoping, but looking at the 2003 (Form B, Number 3) rubric where the essay required students to write an editorial, the rubric doesn’t include anything about it being an editorial. The sample seems to be a regular essay. So, … I’m hoping!

please contribute if u remember anything

I must’ve had form B? My essays were on whether or not companies should be allowed to market to kids for synthesis, a speech by Jane Addams for rhetoric, and books for argument. Anyone else have this?

Darn. I never took a practice test, so i didnt know that each passage was repeated twice for two pages. So, I did half of the first one, went to the end of the exam, them went back forgetting the first passage. I didnt finish 5 questions because of it.

I did well on the free-responses, but the one about creativity, i failed it. I wasnt thinking and wrote it as an ACTUAL letter to my school (still looked like an argumentive essay, but three paragraphs). I started it with, “to whomever this may concern” and signed my name at the bottom. “Writing to your school” really through me off. After the exam, supersticious, i turned to my friend and asked him how he answered it. When he said that it was an argumentive essay, i flipped.

Still hoping for a 5, though. I love English, its my faviorate and best subject. Itd be a shame if i didnt get a five (what i get on practice exams).

@UCalifornias wait u said u never took a practice test then how did u get 5 on ur practice exam? Differently formatted i’m guessing?

Would this still be a 5?

80-85% MC Correct
Synthesis: 8-9
Rhetorical Strategies: 6-8
Development Essay: 4-5

So happy! I didn’t even get to study much and I didn’t have the best teacher, but I felt SO confident before and after the test. Or, I’m just in over my head. Either way I’m pretty sure I passed, but like everyone else, I’m hoping for a 5!

@qkrcjsgh, my teacher have my class 55 questions and said that it we got 44+ correct, then we’d get a 5. I got 54 right. It was formatted differently, as in, no passage was repeated.
