***Official AP Language 2013-2014 Discussion***

By the way, I’m so glad the synthesis was on College degrees and their value. My parents argue with me over that almost every day.

The google doc is making me lose my confidence… Maybe my mc wasn’t so good D:

I was pretty certain of some answers because I had time to reread several passages but idk… I guess I’ll just wait for July

Pretty mad that someone deleted the contents of the google doc. Anyone have a copy?

@UCalifornias‌ Yeah, that’s probably a 5.

MC was meh… I thought my essays were solid though. On the synthesis I wrote an inductive essay with evidence first and thesis in the conclusion. I felt pretty good about it, but here’s hoping the reader gets it :)

July is so far away…

I thought the passages for MC were easy to understand except the first one about nature/humans. I read the cowboy essay in class a week before! Great that I had that exposure.

What is going on with the Google doc? Did college board discover it?

@starchow‌ Apparently it would seem so. I mean it wouldn’t be that hard to track down around twenty persons’ IP addresses just by contacting their internet service providers. Not sure if it would be worth it for them, but I wouldn’t take any chances. Just going to leave that Google Doc and hope for the best.

did CB really discover the doc or is someone just trolling?

I thought the MC was pretty easy but still interesting (36 English, 34 reading, hence the bias). I loved the cowboy passage. It was good because I had just enough time to check my answers. The essays were good. I addressed the creativity one to the Illinois Board of Education–it would be hilarious if they read it. I also signed my name at the bottom, so it was a nice gesture. I really hope for and honestly think I earned a 5.

Yeah the Collegeboard did discover the Google Doc. Check the website for Collegeboard, they just announced that they are starting to shut down people’s scores because of things like this.
It seems weird; all of a sudden, Collegeboard is starting to enforce their laws.
Oh well, hopefully they don’t shut mine down or something…

Lol where do you see that masturmonk1?

I’m guessing you’re the ■■■■■ huh

No, go look at the Collegeboard website.

The multiple choice was tough. I actually came close to running out of time when on all of the practice multiple choice tests, I finished with at least 10 minutes left.

I think my argumentative and synthesis essays were good, but I’m a bit worried about rhetorical analysis. I think I got either a 4 or 5. It comes down to multiple choice and that rhetorical analysis essay.

@masturmonk1 How about you provide a link? I don’t see anything on any of the Collegeboard webpages that describes anything remotely related to “shutting down people’s scores” (canceling would be the more appropriate term and evidently you did not use it).

I thought the MC was fairly easy and had extra time to go back and check over some of my answers. As for the essays, I feel like they were fine but I could have done better. I accidentally went too “outside the box” with my rhetorical one and ended up using metaphor and allusion instead of POV, diction, organization, and ethos/logos/pathos like we practiced in class. >.>"

I thought the multiple choice was pretty tough. I had to leave 6 blank, which bums me out. But if I got in the mid to high 30s (out of 55) in the MC, got an 8-9 on synthesis, an 8-9 on argumentative, and 6-7 on rhetorical, do I still have a chance at earning a 5?

Can you give a link to college board?? @masturmonk1‌

@funnymetaphor Worst case scenario according to what you said… yes. But that’s about borderline. If you get two 9’s then you’d probably get a 5. :P

For the third essay, I wrote it like a persuasive letter with a “To whom it may concern:” and stuff like that. The content of the essay was persuasive/argumentative, but I’m a bit paranoid on what the readers will think. Do you think it’ll be okay? and did anyone else do something like this?

@skieurope That isn’t really something new or some new post on Collegeboard’s website. This is equivalent to what is said before and after the test administration. It’s not really a response to the actions of those on this site or anything…

@rahuliolito You will be fine. It is more about the content of the essay rather than how you had formatted it. Besides, many other people also wrote it as a letter (signing their name and everything), so it’s not like your essay will be an odd exception or anything.
