I thought the MC was easy. I’m predicting 46-51 right – I only felt iffy about one, which could have been right. My essay responses were good for #1, good for #2 (I think), and ridiculous for #3. I wasn’t exactly sure what the prompt was asking and so just wrote 3 paragraphs of BS talking about both extremes and eventually suggesting moderation.

I felt good about everything but q3. What the hell was that?

Mc was okay but I ran out of time so I bubbled in B for the last 15…and the first frq was so bad I just stopped writing halfway and moved on because I was wasting my time trying. 2nd and third were alright but I ran out of time so I only gave 2 examples for the last one

Is the only way you can fail if you misinterpret the prompt?

I thought the whole thing was relatively easy compared to ones I’ve done in the past. It was all very accessible. I tried to be succinct, but I hope I wasn’t too brief. @junior even if you misinterpret the reading you’ll still do well if you had a strong argument we read some practice essays like that and they still did very well.

That was a lot easier than I expected. I did well on the mc and rhetorical analysis. I screwed the synthesis, and I am fairly confident in the argument. Predicting a 4.

The MC was okay. The passage about the fish was some BS though. (x Finished on time for everything. Essay 3 was the hardest for me… the topic was super broad. I didn’t really know what to write so I found myself mentioning King Midas and Edgar Allen Poe and Gandhi… I don’t even know man. All in all though, I expect to pass.

Went better than expected. Multiple choice was a little rough, but I normally do pretty well. Question 3 was a little rough too, but I think some of the examples I used to explain my side were pretty good. All of my essays were probably somewhere in the 5-7 range (hopefully). Expecting a 3, hoping for a 4.

I thought MC was easy considering three out of the four pieces were contemporary. A lot easier than the practice tests I had. And the essays werent horrible either. Overall i think I absolutely got a 4, possibly a 5

I actually thought the MC was relatively easy too. I was surprised the passages were so easy to comprehend. It was at least way easier than what we practiced in class. I think I did splendid on synthesis and rhetorical analysis (I LOVED IT!). As for the argument essay, I had 15 minutes left so I just wrote but I actually think I did well on it even though I kind of wrote without planning.

I did well on the MC but I’m not sure how I did on the essays. Expecting a 4, hoping for a 5

I’m screwed for tthe synthesis too! What happens if you didnt really answer the prompt? Is it possible to get a 5?

Not feeling confident at all. Literally bubbled in random letters for the last 10 questions cuz I was running out of time. The argumentative essay was the worst. I don’t think I even answered the prompt right, I wrote 2 paragraphs of BS in the last 15 mins. Expecting a 2 or 3

in the rhetorical section i wrote the guys name as richard louy, not richard louv!!! is this really bad and will it seriously affect my rhetorical score??? the rest of my essay was really good, probably 7 or 8 range, but i messed up the name!!!

i swear i saw louy. maybe there was a little ink blot that happened to be right there on just my page under the v and caused me to see a y instead? i even went back during the essay to make sure i had the name right… IM FREAKING OUT

@diddly dude, you’re fine. That literally will not affect your score at all…

@kpopss same with me, fingers crossed for a 3

thank you^!! i talked to someone else and said the same thing. ugh i just need May to end already.

But i thought it went pretty well. MC was relatively easy, definitely missed a few, but whatever, who doesnt?
Loved essay 1 and 2, I was a little confused with 3 but I just talked about gaining a sense of self from identifying with owned beliefs like Judaism/democracy and used personal examples

I felt that the MC was fairly easy other than passage 3 and a few questions from passage 2. My 3rd essay was complete bs though… When are we allowed to discuss the questions?

Approximately how many can you get wrong on the multiple choice to still be in range for a 5 with essays ranging from 6-8?

Any advice from someone who knows about previous curves/ap language exams would be greatly appreciated.

Note that the scoring scale used was for the 2007 exam, in which there were only 52 multiple-choice questions; today’s exam had 55 (I believe).

Below is the approximate % of multiple-choice questions one would need to answer correctly if you averaged each of the following scores on the essays:

Average on three essays —> approx. minimum % of MC correct for 5

5/9 —> 98% (1 wrong out of 55)
6/9 —> 85% (8 wrong out of 55)
7/9 —> 71% (16 wrong out of 55)
8/9 —> 58% (23 wrong out of 55)

Remember that the essays are worth 55% of one’s total score; multiple-choice accounts for 45%

This is the curve from 2007

For MC scaling use 1.2272 instead of 1.2980
