official AP Physics B 2011-2012 thread!

What did you put for number 4?

do you think the variation of 9.8 or 10 could account for that?

you mean part d? i honestly can’t remember…either 5,10,15,25 i did a lot of last minute second guessing on that one

yeah its probably because of that (i used 10 m/s^2)
number 4; the thermodynamics question with the P vs T and P vs V graphs

5, 10, 15, 25?? What is that the answer for?

nothing but the tension it part d of #1 vaguely resembled one of those numbers…i think…for 4 i put the piston moves up

im not sure about 4 though i just used a lot of common sense my graphs may have been wrong…

For number 4 which was a killer question:

part (a), I drew a diagonal line (not going through 0 because it wouldn’t make sense to go to absolute zero) that showed that as Temp increases, Pressure increases. The arrow, however, went towards the bottom left of the diagonal. (Southwest)

yeah for b i said it moves up since the pressure inside is greater than the pressure outside.

Oh ok so I had like the line going the same way as you but I had no idea where the arrow was supposed to go…

nevermind I did not see your edit haha. My graph matches yours. But I am not sure how close I drew it to the origin

Glad I got the Form B for this test. It appears way easier than the normal form.

@ collegeman:
when will they be posting up Form b?

^ not totally sure. i would presume fairly soon, but dang i’m glad i got the Form B! haha The problems seemed simpler, aside from a more advanced version of the first question on the normal form. And there was no question like #6 from what i can recall.

The multiple choice for both forms are the same right?
was number 70 a magnetism question for form b?

could someone explain #69, the one about the power ratios where the guy carries the box up the ramp

power = work/time. power is maximized by having a large work and a small time.

Has anyone found reliable solutions to the FRQs? Specifically 1,2,4 and 5?

No, have you found any for any question? Lol I want to know how I did aswell.

So, I’ve finally been able to accumulate all the correct answers to all the parts of the free response and put them into this pdf file. This pdf has the potentially correct solutions to all the free response questions for the 2012 exam excluding number 6–the lab question. I answered these questions myself so I’d be fine with any feedback on these solutions for it may be the case that I made an error.
