* OFFICIAL AP U.S. Government & Politics Exam *

hey, can you guys just give me very brief definition of the following things:

VMI
whitewater
Brady Bill
Keynote Speech
Kerner Commission
motor voter
Superfund

?

brady bill=handgun control bill opposed by NRA
keynote speech= main speech at an event
motor voter=bill requiring states to offer voter registration along with driver licences, federalism issue!
superfund=fund used to pay for environmental disasters like love canal etc, bush has gutted this

I have NO idea why the VMI thing would be there, but here goes:

VMI is the Virginia Military Institute, where many of our nation's officers (for the armed forces) are trained.

Whitewater was the investment fraud case that the Clinton's were involved in.

Here's Wikipedia's definition of the Kerner Commission, it's a bit more accurate:

[quote]

The Kerner Commission was created to report to president Lyndon Johnson on the recent 1967 race riots. Nominally headed by Illinois governor Otto Kerner, its real leading spirit was John Lindsay, mayor of New York. Pessimistic in tone, its finding was that the riots resulted from black frustration at lack of economic opportunity, and that America was becoming two societies, separate and unequal. The Commission found out that economic problems in the ghettoes were the main causes of the riots.

I offer u my personal guarantee that the kerner commision will NOT be on the test

Yeah, for some reason, I highly doubt it'll be on the test.

thanks guys

Hrm. Shouldn't we be studying? (Actually, no, right after the AP Gov test, I have to go make a speech to the Daughters of the American Revolution. How ironic. :/.. was going to take AP Comp. Gov originally but Georgetown doesn't accept Comp Gov credit + ... event conflict..)

well Im goin to sleep, its 11:30 here in Frisco, and I have to get up at 7 AM :/

anyway, good luck to everybody, Im sure we'll all pass and then some :)

I just finished a practice test and got 57 out of 60

how hard can this test be?

15min till test in east coast. Here we go.

well that was a fun test, huh?

How so--- my S started it 45 minutes ago...

I'm from Michigan, and we finished about 30 minutes ago.

easy easy!

wow that was easier then I thought. The FRQ were not too hard either. Anyone have any predictions on the curve?

wow very unexpectedly easy i hardly studied and my teacher never taught but im mad confident

MC was some was moderate. Essays were very easy.

Everything was easier than I expected too. I didn't feel like I learned anything from Govt. today, but I knew almost everything on the test . . . wonder if it'll be a harsh curve though :-/

it prolly will be but who knows, yet again were a small sampling of people

Thought the multiple choice was easier than I expected it.
Essays were extremely easy

Good thing I crammed last night.....pretty much everything I stuffed into my brain yesterday was on the test :-P
