buy amsco directly from the publisher, way cheaper than amazon

yea AMSCO has enough info to self study it. DH is for people who need a quick review

How bout REA, REA crash course, or Princeton review???

there’s an entire thread dedicated to review books. self-studiers, again, get 5s with just amsco & direct hits. it’s up to you…how you like the information presented. go to barnes and noble or something and take a look at them…

I’ve heard the top 3 books were REA crash course, DH, and AMSCO, so I was hoping to get all 3. If DH and AMSCO are overkill just the two of them, then I will just get those and will not waste my time with REA. Are you positive though that those two ensure great grades?

^^All I read was amsco and I got a 5, so two books in your case should be fine.

I have my first test tomorrow and I’m terrified. My teacher wasn’t even at school on Friday to answer questions (or even tell us about the test). Apparently it’s a five paragraph essay, and he gave us a sheet with four possible essay questions and said “You should prepare 3 because I’ll be putting two on the test, but I might not actually put any of these”. I just don’t even want to start studying.

What is AMSCO and why is it so expensive?

We’re using the American Pageant and we have to outline every chapter. It’s excruciating but it’s actually helping. We have a test coming up though, and I’m scared for it. This is my first AP history class that’s not a joke (last year I took AP Euro and the teacher was a joke)

AMSCO is like $18 if you get it from the publisher.

Okay I have my first APUSH test tomorrow. We have to recite all of the presidents, their parties, and years of service. It’s in aprox 12 hours. Wish me luck.

Sent from my iPhone using CC

I’m not in the actual AP class (I’m self studying it on the side though) and we got assigned an essay on the American Revolution… So much fun. Haha.

Why is everybody so stressed about APUSH? I just took the unit 1 test, which covers chapters 1 - 5 in the American Pageant, and I got a 9 on the essay and a 90% on the M/C. Ownage :).

Our test is on Friday of 1-6. I starting to study today. Luckily we have no essay :)

How much writing does everyone’s class have? I’m really curious.

My class so far (and apparently will always) have a 1 page writing response due every Friday which he grades very harshly. I’m sure there will be longer writings eventually too.

We don’t have a lot of writing. The only time we write is when we are taking notes or writing an essay for the unit test (once every couple of weeks).

I got a five without using my review book at all, which was an old REA I got from my teacher. I just took the course, read our textbook (Out of Many) and did my homework, which was an outline of each chapter. It is very impressive if you have a lot of dates in store, because the readers will be impressed if you use them in your essays. I got my 5 simply by reading my own notes.

does anyone know where i can get the answers to the questions in AMSCO?

AMSCO answers:

[Janu’s AP U.S. History: AMSCO Book Answers](http://januapush.blogspot.com/2011/04/amsco-book-answers.html)

What books do you use for practice tests? Which one resembles the difficulty level of the real test?

Ice Qube, thank you so much for those answers. Do you know where I can receive the explanations to these questions??? They seem pretty basic but I answered incorrectly on 2 out of the first 10
