Sorry if this is too early. I created this thread now in hopes of learning a substantial amount of AP US History over the summer so that I can get a head start on the class. Tips please?

Get the REA All-Access and do the 8 week plan in the book. It’s perfect. Start around March. Then use the Crash Course. Literally you will get a 5.

For real, already? Aight. Sooo ready for APUSH, because I hate world history and love US.

@bkkacyem Are you suggesting that I do the 8 week plan in the book over the summer or in March (sorry I got confused by the wording)? Thanks for letting me know about the resource though.

I love US History, so excited for APUSH. Just got my book and summer assignments today. I have to read the first 97 pages of my book, write two essays and write a paragraph each for 50 terms. Yay summer It could be worse though hahaha

Just out of curiosity, what book is your school using?

I’m taking this next year too.
@pidude, our school uses the American Pageant or something.

My school is using American History: A Survey by Brinkley

I’m taking APUSH next year, I love US history but everyone says the teachers suck and the class is hard, which knocks down my excitement for it.

I’m taking APUSH and AP Euro… They’re taught by the same teacher and this is our first year having AP Euro at my school so hopefully it won’t be too bad.

But both of them are year-long so I’ll have them at the same time

@sshdancer97 AP Euro and APUSH together? That sounds intense.

Yeah, my school uses American Pageant too.

Get the essential content by Larry kreiger it’s simply amazing. On my last 2 practice test (released past exams) I’ve been able to get 70/80 and 72/80 mc right with a horrible teacher who didn’t teach a single thing the entire year

My school uses American Pageant. No summer assignment for me, woo woo!

yeaa get essential content by Larry Krieger, i didn’t even take the APUSH course in my school and on the last test I tooked (2008) i got a 75/80. This book legit has everything u need to know + its easy to read

@pidude Yeah, they revised our schedule for next year to where our 45 minute study hall was replaced by a 45 minute year-long class. It was like a really last minute decision so the offerings were limited and the only one that even appealed to me was Euro sooo it is what it is, I guess haha

I’m taking this class nest year as well. Although I am not a big fan of history, I am very excited for APUSH. Hopefully it will be a better experience than AP Euro lol.
I did received summer homework. It was essential since the more summer hw, the more weeks of review for the exam we will get. I have to do the first 5 chapters with like 30 study guide questions plus 2 articles w/ questions. Not bad!

Is anybody getting the Princeton review? I am deciding between that or the crash course :/

I just finished APUSH (I am the wise elder now… heheheheh), so I have some advice:
- At my school it was a really lax class, so I didn’t spend a lot of time on it and I still got As both semesters (which is kinda hard to do… but doable), so idk about your teachers and whatnot.
BUT GET KAPLAN FOR TEST REVIEW. Barron’s sucks, and PR is… mediocre.
Feel free to message with questions

Hello, I just finished the AP US course at my school. In preparation for the AP test in May, I bought a Barron’s Review Book and it helped a ton. I read the whole thing the day before the test and when I was taking it every thing was fresh in my head. I would recommend using that book without doubt. Also, there are a bunch of APUS review websites that you can use. AP US really is a wonderful course and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did :)

Just kind of testing the water on an idea my wife had. All of my students have passed the AP test - last year we had perfect 5’s across the board. There’s a website that offers online courses that a teacher can upload. Who would be willing to pay for this and what price? It would include video lectures, tips for MC, FRQ, DBQ, response to questions and at least 2 live sessions a month, more as the AP date gets closer. So again let me know if this is something you might be interested in and how much you think this service is worth
