They’re forgettable because the nation was more or less in a political stalemate. There aren’t very many memorable events. What I know is that Garfield was assassinated, and his assassination triggered the passing of the Pendleton Act to reform civil service jobs. Cleveland had nothing important in either of his terms, and Harrison passed the Sherman Antitrust Act, which wasn’t very widely used until the Progressive Era. McKinley’s election in 1896 broke the stalemate.

yes, exactly! them, plus everyone from van buren to buchanan. I honestly could not tell you what any of them did, minus the mex-am war.

Yeah. They were all really weak, pretty terrible presidents. Honestly, the only thing I know off the top of my head about them is the expansion under Polk. (Mexican-American War and settling the border dispute with Britain.) Jackson is important, Lincoln is important, but the presidents in between are forgettable.

How much do we need to know past the Reagan era?

@blaaargh - Hardly anything.

anyone know how i can get a 4? I only read 7/30 chapters for AMSCO. And plan on reading the crash course monday and tuesday.

Quick trivia: what are the two pieces of legislation that President Truman vetoed to no avail, as a conservative Congress passed them? Both concern monitoring and restricting people.

one is Taft-Hartley Act, i think

Do you guys think that a 63/80 on the multiple choice is a good enough score for a 5, given that I can write pretty decent essays? I took two practice MC sections this weekend, and that’s what I scored on both of them. Thanks!

hey guys i don’t know much after 1950, should I study some of that? How much of the MC is 1950+ anyway?

@evanh14 63/80 mc with decent essays can get you a 5! :)

I’ve been taking practice tests and getting high 60’s (out of the 80) which my teacher says is within the 5 range, but I’m really worried about the DBQ and FRQ. Does anyone know the worst I can do on the DBQ/FRQ and still get a 5?

with a good curve the lowest you can get is an average of a score of 5/9 on the essays to get a 5

Eh. I haven’t started studying for this. Hope it goes well.

Haven’t started studying?? Or reviewing?

Because APUSH is a lot to study in a day.

I’m skipping school tomorrow. What do you recommend I do to make the most of my APUSH review day? So far what I have in mind is: carefully go over each of the 4 practice tests I took, make a huge vocab list, and read and brainstorm some FRQs.

Here is something I thought you guys may find helpful, a Redditor by the name of /u/Joined_Today posted it. Its a quick review of everything.

That link is so helpful! Thank you!

That link is taken directly from the REA Crash Course. I have my book turned to the exact same page right now. I have read through this book & intend to read through the main parts again tomorrow. I had a really good teacher so I’m just hoping for the best.

That’s for sharing the link, gnastygnorc!

Hey guys, I just wanted to give you a last piece of advice before you take this test. I got a 5 on this test last year and it’s because of one thing - cramming. Or what I call “productive cramming”. What you should do is go through the released free response questions and look at the DBQ’s. Notice which topics or eras haven’t shown up in a large amount of time. You’ll generally arrive at two or three periods. What you then should do is learn everything - literally everything - about those eras. Because, almost certainly, one of those topics you reviewed will be the DBQ era. Needless to say, you should earn nothing lower than a 7 on said DBQ as a result. Because of this, you can expect an advantage in your free response total score, provided you did at least decent on the other two free responses. Trust me, and good luck Wednesday

Thanks @tspro2014!

Could anybody do the research that tspro suggested? Looking at the previous years FRQs and DBQs, which topics will show up tomorrow???

Please, somebody, find this out for us! I will guess as well, but I want to double check with others!
