Official April SAT Score Thread

silver or anyone- why does taking it too many times hurt? Do colleges see all the scores or just the ones you want them to see?

My daughter's scores...how could there be such a big difference between SAT and PSAT writing.

CR 670
M 700
W 580-8 essay

CR 65
M 64
W 71

800 cr
720 m
800 w

should I retake?- I know I can get an 800 math if I study a bit

Descartes, that's 2320!!! 0_0 please take me as your student!!

You are not the only one to get under 2000, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with your score! I don't know what the people with 2200 are complaining about. Colleges look at more than your score anyway.

I got the same as you Descartes... I think it wouldn't be worth it just to risk dropping verbal and writing. I know they say they take your highest composite, but going through another four hours of that just isn't worth it in my opinion, especially b/c I have other math awards and 35 on ACT math. If you're planning to take the math SATII, I think it'd make up for it nicely.

SB2, if you look at your daughter's Score Report from the PSAT, you'll see that there are ranges that predict SAT scores. The range for the writing, as I recall, was much wider and lower than the other two sections. I believe that this is because of the SAT essay, which of course is not on the PSAT. Perhaps the SAT Writing is also harder than the corresponding section on the PSAT.

But I'm confused: When you say Writing 580-Essay 8, do you mean that 580 is her total score on that section, or the multiple choice portion?

580 is her total score on that section. It includes the essay, which is worth 30% of the score.

No I got a 1940. I want a 2100 next time.

Not super disappointed, but I think I'll retake it.

Retaking in June.

macnyc, I looked at her PSAT score sheet and the range is 600-720. She received an 8 on her essay and 58 on MC. Other posters have gotten an 8 on the essay portion and they received scores in the high 600's. I guess she really bombed the MC section, which doesn't make sense, since she has always scored well on practice tests. I'm just trying to figure out what went wrong and what she needs to do for the next test.

2360 (760 CR, 800 M, 800 W)
First time taking the test.

Meh. Sorta disappointed but whatever. I'm done with SAT's.

Math: 710 HAHA (missed five questions)
Critical Reading: 740 (so close to beating January's 760) (missed five questions)
Writing: 770 (MC: 79, E: 9) (9 essay??? ***?! I was so close to a fricking 800!!!!)

Total: 2230. 40 points less than January. But combined scores, I get a 2330 (800 M, 760 CR, 770 W). Not worth taking over. It's all fricking luck, I tell you.

(By the way, my score report is up also. But not the essay.)

CR 390
Math 470
Writing 410
MC 39
Essay 7

what should i do

Do you have the means to attend any prep classes?

I feel you kinda... I got below 2000, and I mean I feel crappy, but my suggestion is if you study... every day.. for 2 hours, till you take it again.. I promise you will do a lot better. I reccomend you buy the offical sat prep book. I got the same score, to the tee i got on my psat, and my psat was not good lol. :(

Math 740 CR 690 Writing 710 [10 essay]

... 2140 altogether.. not very happy/.

Wow... I can't believe that 90% of the people with a 2000+ are complaining and talking about retaking already!

I got a 1960

I really should have studied, especially the math part ( all this calculus is messing up my algebra)

I got an 11 on the essay

BUT

I am confident tha, with pracitce, I can break the 2100 mark
