Will they be up at midnight?

Nope...6-8 AM EST tomorrow...

so question, everyone i talk, to including myself, thought that the math section was harder than previous tests and harder than the practice tests in the blue book. you guys agree?

I thought math and writing were harder than the blue book.

yeah the math was hard for me and that's usually the part i don't worry about. ugh

From what I've heard, the only reason writing was added to the SAT was b/c women weren't doing as well as men were. So the UC system *****ed and complained, forcing CB to skew the results.

It's retarded, but as long as I break 2200, I'll never do this blasted piece of crap ever again.

I think writing will be scaled easy, because most everyone agrees that the April Writing was much harder than past administrations and practice tests. Let's just hope that CC is a good representation of the population at large...

They make the curves before the administer the tests, so it doesn't matter what we think.

I don't think that they make the curves before the tests are administered. Then what would be the point of the equating section? I'm not saying that they simply do it by percentiles, because better test-takers tend to take the SAT on certain dates. However, the equating section is used for grade-setting purposes. I think.

i hate math

I definitely thought that the math section was harder than any practice math section I had taken (a crapload)...I'm just hoping I got at least 720+!!!!! Why did they have to postpone it a week!?!?!

"to make sure they don't screw things up...again"

yeah, i'm okay with the extra week because they screwed up my chem sat II grade by 30 points last june

Yeah, coming from a person who scored an 800 Math in January, I thought the April math was hard. Good grief. >_<

Oh, and RCMan, the curve is pre-determined. I'm sure there has been evidence backing this up posted somewhere; it definitely is pre-determined. The equating section is used to test future question (types). This is where it actually matters how many people got what right; this is how they say "this question is a hard question" or "this question is an easy question." This is from data from the equating section.

If the curve was formulated after the test date according to everybody's scores, then it wouldn't be "standardized." For example, theoretically if all the "stupid" people (ordinarily would score 500 or below) take it on the same day and if the CB formulates scores after the test date based on students' scores, then the "smartest" stupid person would receive an 800. This 800 would then be equivalent to an 800 received by a student who tested on a date where all the "smart" people tested (500+ scorers). Obviously, the person who received the 800 on a day when only "smart" people tested is smarter than the person who received an 800 on a day when only "stupid" people tested. Therefore, the CB pre-determines the curve before the test and does not base it on the actual scores from the test-takers.

I hope the above paragraph makes sense.. it's the way I figure it.. =P

i don't have fingernails anymore because a CERTAIN test, that starts with the letter "S" and ends with "AT", I'm honestly not sure which one, though, made me bite them all off.

if i write like i just did on the sat, i will not receive such a nice score.

"The scores are usually posted around 5-6am eastern time." - Odin64x

Since I live in the Pacific time zone, I think I gonna stay up and wait for my score till like 3AM in the morning. I hope the score doesn't ruin my day.....

edit pending new information

edit2: Wow. Curves are determined beforehand. You learn something new every day.

hi guys

thanks for clearing that up

i just don't get how it works...because one equating section per test is not enough for all the questions they ask on all the tests...
