***Official APUSH discussion thread for 2009***

^ yes its fine as long as you have separated your thesis into distinct and clear elements (ie, not saying “he failed in some ways and succeeded in others”, but rather “he failed in his , however his were met with great success”) be specific, and it helps to arrive at some conclusions towards the end

anyone pulling an all-nighter?

chair2, actually it’s the best option to talk about both sides.

Anyone going to skip questions?

Lol I might skip some if I am totally clueless like on those dumb book stuff. But I know a few books, so I may get by but might now. I am really worried about the essays. Those are so hard; you can never predict those things at all LOL.

I’m hoping that I can narrow the choices down to at least 3, if not 2 on uncertain questions - I’m basically not planning on skipping any. I want to answer them all :)

I’m scared that they will put a random clinton question in there but no biggies.

The FRQs are… just weird cause I’m more of a english writer so I add a lot of “fluff”.

I think fluff helps if you don’t know a lot of info. With analysis fluff and very minimal CDs, you can still get a 5-6. We did a mock exam that was graded by some APUSH grader who’s head of his grading team (means he checks the other people in his team’s work, has more experience) and that’s what happened.

Don’t skip MCs, it’s not worth it. You can usually eliminate one and then just guess, or go on your instinct even if you can’t eliminate any. I marked on my practice MC the ones I thought I would skip on a real exam, b/c I was just guessing, but then I got 1/2 of those right–so it’s not worth it to skip.

I am excited for the test, I think I will do well.

Except, I have had this explained to me so many times but I always forget- What conclusion did Marbury vs. Madison come to? I know it is judicial review, but what does that mean?

It means that the Supreme Court can overturn acts of Congress, rule them unconstitutional

Thank you! I thought so, but just wanted to make sure.

Just finished Crash Course again. =)

Looking through DBQ’s and FRQ’S then off to sleep.

GOOD Luck everyone!

What are DBQ AND FRQ’s

thanks

Just finished crash course too lol, skimmed most of it. Test in 4 hours, time to sleep. Good luck guys!

AMSCO didn’t help me in my last minutes of misery. It’s not a cram book; but more like a “follow along as you go through” book. I do have a good cram packet though, but people in American are probably taking it right now. It’s no help to anyone.

Guys!! My teacher predicted the FRQ right! w00t. (I made a thread telling you guys that it was going to be on).

I ran out of time for my FRQs…but I still managed to finish :)

I thought the essay topics were pretty easy. Then again, your essay is going to have to stand out if you want a high score.

Crash Course helped A LOT with the MC. <3 Crash Course.

MC killed me… i mean, i got like 20 wrong =( DBQ surprising and weird but i did fine =) possibly an 8?? and the FRQs were plain and simple

I can’t remember - can we discuss the FRQ and DBQ?
