Official Bard Class of 2020 Discussion Thread

Letters from Bard for acceptance have been traditionally standard THIN no. 10 envelopes. I doubt it will be different this year. Congratulations to all!

Thank you! She got in!!! So excited!

Congrats! But, If I didn’t get a letter is that bad news?

Where are you located? We are about an hour away. Letter was postmarked 12/16 but letter is dated 12/18

Long Island @bryan90042 I’m guessing I’m deferred/rejected I’m roughly 2 hours away

It’s been a few years now since my son graduated - but he did a double degree so was there for five years and continues to be in involved with Bard. I’m happy to answer private messages if anyone has any questions about Bard they think I might be able to answer.

Are EA decisions released as well? or just ED?

My daughter received her EA decision today. We live in NYC.

I’m from Western Mass. I wonder if we will have more information later? It is just a letter, a door tag, and open house invitation.

Decisions are now online.

I got deferred.

@reynarig I’m sorry to hear that… what are your stats?

I am ranked 4/406. Uw GPA is 3.86 and W GPA is 4.91 Did not submit my standardized test scores. I am treasurer of NHS, have around ~200 hours of community service. French club president band for two years, and other clubs. Had a summer job. I am a first generation American ( I’m a minority) and high school student. My parents make below 50,000.

Will have taken 13 AP classes with all of them with a score of a 3 and above

@reynarig I’m sure you are a really great candidate! I think submitting your SAT/ACT would help, if someone who has the same GPA submitted the SAT, you are kind of in disadvantage because you don’t have it. Hope you can get in in RD!

Thank you @Fiona1997
I also got deferred at Sarah Lawrence College ED. I really want to attend Bard or SLC, but I don’t know what steps to take after this. My counselor told me to send them a cover letter explaining why I would benefit from their education, and to send my semester grades ( which are straight A’s with all AP’s). Could somebody help me out? Since I am first generation, I never received support or guidance through my college process.

@reynarig I was deferred, too (but my GPA is ass). Does anyone know if I even stand a chance during RD? I didn’t submit my SAT either; it wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t astounding either.

However, enough about me. To those who applied and were accepted: CONGRATULATIONS! Whether or not you go to Bard, I wish you the best!

@reynarig how is your essay and recommendation?

My recommendations were stellar, but I feel that my essay was average; since my English teacher looked at it and helped me out with some things, and my counselor said it was ok. Btw, English is one of my weak subjects.

What is the major you applied to and is your essay something related to your major? I applied for Human Rights and I wrote about Malala in my essay.
