Official Barnard 2012 Transfer Thread

Jesus. Only 80 were accepted?

anyone else on the west coast? so nervous, having my parents check each day

@crocodiles: i’m from suffolk county too! one of the small towns on the south shore :)

@collingwood: thanks for the info. 80 makes me really hopeful!

AND of course, i can’t believe i forgot to mention this: CONGRATS to all the admits!

80 is up 6 from the last common data set stats reported for last year for transfers.

i am kinda freaking out right now. I havent receive anything yet, and i am from NYC.

80 transfers into the class of 2014? or was that combined 2014 and 2015 transfers? i’m waiting for my decision as well but i applied as a sophomore not junior

Last common data set for Barnard that was reported that I was able to find (google Barnard common data set, and review section D); said they made 74 offers to transfers from a pool of applicants of 520. I believe this was for 2010-11. You can check. Those are very good odds compared to many of the other comparable LACs.
Relax! The letters will come. I would guess there is a far greater volume of mail to get through in large urban areas around NY, than there is in rural MA.
Now breathe…

my letter says “each fall approximately 80 new transfer students bring a diverse range of…” my sympathies go out to all of you waiting.

@howgoesit that’s really funny because i’m also from one of the small towns on the south shore…what a small world.

That letter might be referring to actual matriculants in lieu of admitted students

According to the Common Data Set:

14% admit rate. that is depressing lol oh well :(

Sheesh, I applied to Barnard under the impression that the rate was around 17-20%. I might get waitlisted at best…

I’m from NYS too and I havent gotten anything from them. I feel like it’s almost last year again where I’ll get rejected. I too thought the rate was closer to 20 than 10.

that really freaks me out! I thought it was more around 20%, too!! Yikes!!
Anyone from the West Coast hear anything?

nope, i’m on the west coast. haven’t gotten a letter - i think it’s gonna be a no :(

you and me both :frowning: well seeing as some east coasters have just gotten their letters, we have a few more days of hope! stay strong ladies, no matter what, you are all amazing

I called admissions today to see if I could have my decision either mailed to my school or given to me over the phone because my family won’t be home to check the mail until June and I was told I can call on the 15th. She said they still haven’t finished sending everything out.

no news from Barnard in the west coast yet. Though, I have little faith it’s going to be good news.

I think the need-sensitive thing leaves me no hope. My EFC is like $8,000. Oh well.

For those who have been accepted : small or big envelope ?
