I’m from Massachusetts, haha, that is my delayed reply!
I’m so anxious. I actually made a list of what I have going for me/against me the other day… thankfully my teachers have assigned so much homework that I’m going to try to keep my mind off of things.

heartbroken is so accurate. i’ve been describing it to my friends–“i feel like a creepy potential girlfriend, obsessing and stalking this boy that i like.” ironically, the boy is a women’s college…

So true. I’m trying not to think about it too much, though. But I’m obviously failing at that.
I do think it helps thinking of it as a matching process. And that, if we don’t end up being accepted, it’s not that we’re not good enough, it just wasn’t meant to be.
That’s how I’m TRYING to think. I’m not really succeeding much. :D

aren’t acceptance letters sent out by snail mail as well? I feel like Barnard does everything by regular mail…

ih3artthou- acceptance letters are ONLY sent via postal mail, unless you are an international student.

that’s what I thought. I was confused by a point made earlier. thanks for clarifying!

Heartbroken is definite;y the right word. I’m trying to live by what I’ve always told my older friends: if they don’t accept you, it wasn’t meant to be; but it’s so much easier said than followed, especially since it feels like everything about Barnard is perfect for me!

I’m trying to think that way, too… but, I really hope it is meant to be!
On Barnard’s website it says 51.8% ED acceptance rate… that’s hope, right?
Have you sent out your other applications? I decided to wait until after and send them out on the 16th/17th if need be, but now I’m almost regretting waiting…

I haven’t sent out anything else yet. I’m going to prepare my other applications, but I’m not submitting it before I hear from Barnard. Why do you regret waiting?

Only because now I am so anxious now that I feel like my other applications are lacking/I worry that if I get deffered or rejected, I will be my applications to other competitive schools too close to the deadline.

I think I’m just worrying too much though.

I definitely understand the worrying, but there would still be time to work on applications after the Barnard decision. (Just for the record, I’m definitely trying to make myself calm too. )

yoga, anyone: ;)

To clarify, acceptances (at least for RD; I think this is true for ED as well) are sent out via Priority mail (big cardboard mailer), not regular US post. International students will hear via e-mail, and often before those in the US.

Best to you all! I know it’s nerve wracking, but we are all out here to cheer you on!!

Thank you. :)

Thank you, churchmusicmom! I was going through old threads yesterday and I saw that your daughters have attended Barnard and have loved their experiences; are they still at Barnard?

My one daughter graduated last May and did love it. She is now in grad school for Neuroscience working toward her PhD.

This thread is the 10th most commented-on thread in the Barnard forum. With this post, it will become the 9th. I’m not sure what this means, but congrats ladies!

Also, do we want to post all of the decisions on this thread, or do we want to start a new one?

I’m posting the template below - remove the spaces! - as we do only have two weeks left. They’ll pass by in a flash.

So, without further ado, here’s the template (remember to remove the spaces):

I was just looking at that today, ha!

I think we should make a new thread for that, so that future applicants do not have to sort through 7 pages of chat to find it. We can call it something like ‘2014 ED Results.’

Sure. Well, I’ll volunteer to set it up . . . mhm, Friday, December 11th?
