Official Barnard Regular Decision Class of 2017 Thread

I saw that there was an Official Barnard ED Thread, so I decided to make one for all of those who are applying regular decision (or have already applied. Today is the deadline).

Barnard is my first choice school, but I didn’t apply early decision because I was worried about the financial aid as well as tying myself down to one school, which I now realize was stupid of me, but oh well.

So what about you guys? Was Barnard your first-choice school or just one down the list?

Same to me . Barnard is my first choice but RD due to applying for financial aid. Had interview with the college admission Director in California when she was here for college fair in Oct. I thou my GPA is decent ( 4 .6/ 3.75), good EC, but ACT only 27( 30 in Eng, 10 essay) very worry about that. Wonder if anyone in here input my potential of being offered an acceptance ?

This is my stats:
3.75/4.6
ACT 27 ( eng 30, 10 essay)
10 ap classes
Senior schedule: ap lit, chem, cal ab, Econ/ gov, IB Spanish 4, medical core
EC:

I decided to apply RD because I honestly didn’t knwo where I waned to go, but know I’m thinking maybe I should have applied ED. oh well. no use comtemplating it now.

on another note, the supplements for Barnard are killer.

hey guys! I’m applying RD too, and also wished I applied ED. It’s definitely my first choice. I just wasn’t ready at the time.
I love this school like crazy. and yeah, I spent FOREVER on those supplements.

@colleen2017
i took forever too! lol
ahhh i wonder when the results are coming out :/

It stresses me out a little that the official RD thread exists already ;;;;
omgggg I wish I applied ED too. and the supplements were a lot of work indeed…
out of curiosity, who did everyone end up talking about for the conversation with a woman prompt? I picked Sylvia Plath because I love her poetry!

this is crazy. just finished my supplements last night. good luck guys.
there were so many essays to write.
i chose anna wintour. :)

I’ve been waiting for this thread to start up! And I wished I applied ED too, but I need to compare financial aid packages and I don’t think I was ready at that time to apply ED anywhere. But I LOVE Barnard. And yes, so many supplements.

@chippu- I love Sylvia Plath! I read The Bell Jar this year and we read one of her poems in my english class which lead to me looking for more of her poems to read lol. I really fell in love with poetry this year.

@kendrickgirl- That’s so awesome that you wrote about Anna Wintour! I talked about Vogue and Grace Coddington in my common app essay. Speaking of Grace, I got her book for Christmas this year and it’s great so far.

I wrote about Robin Givhan for my conversation with a woman prompt. She’s the first fashion writer to win a Pulitzer Prize.

Did anyone get a confirmation from Barnard yet? Or do they even do that?

@berries123: Damn, fashion writer who won the Pulitzer? sounds hella impressive. I’m happy you got into poetry! It’s such a wonderful…form of expression.

@kbhatt: Yeah, they send out an application tracking portal. You get it approx. a week after you submit part one.

when do we find out about the notification date?

ahh grace coddington! I love her! She’s so awesome.
Yay women power.
I think we find out late march, early april?

:( how am i gonna wait for four months :/

I applied RD because of finances (I’m upper middle class technically, but my parents probably can’t pay 60k a year lol). Barnard is my first choice, but I also got into my state school (University of Michigan) which I would be really happy to attend, so it’s a good fallback.

For my conversation with a woman essay, I wrote about my grandmother who died when I was 5. I never really knew her, but she overcame a lot of hardship in her life and was a huge feminist. I’m a little bit scared because she’s not exactly famous or fictional, but I think it’ll be okay!

Good luck everyone :)

Also, did anyone apply to other women’s schools? I applied to Wellesley and Smith.

@chippu- I know right?! She’s awesome!

And yepp, we find out late March/early April via snail mail lol. Such a long wait, but hopefully time will fly by.

@theforestagain- That’s really cool that you wrote about your grandmother! It makes it so much more personal. That’s funny that your fallback school is Michigan because mine is Ohio State! Lol rival schools hahaa.

And I also applied to Wellesley! One of my friend’s is going to Mount Holyoke next year to play lacrosse. It’s funny because neither of us was really looking for a women’s college when we started researching schools and now she’s definitely going to one, and I may end up at one next year too!

Hello, all you lovely, strong and beautiful future-Barnard women!

Just an FYI: you should receive your admissions status notification (through express mailer or, if you are international, via e-mail) some time the last week of March. That is what has happened for the past 8 years or so, at least.

Best to you all!

yeah i applied to wellesley early evaluation @theforestagain

oh really @churchmusicmom. good to know.

@theforestagain: I applied to Wellesley and Smith too! I love all the schools, so hopefully I’ll get into at least one and not be too disappointed… :D
