I got mine and I submitted sometime before December 20th.

Does anyone else get extremely annoying questions when people realize you’re applying to women’s colleges??

Does anyone else get extremely annoying questions when people realize you’re applying to women’s colleges??

@berries123 HAHA YES! Except my art history teacher who is a feminist really likes that I want to go to Wellesley. I get so many questions from my family. For ex. “How are you going to meet guys?” MAJOR FACEPALM MOMENT

I submitted the day before the deadline. Woo. Officially done with apps :)

Ahh! Barnard is my first choice by far. I’m so nervous! I can’t wait to hear. My SAT is 1990 and my ACT is 29. -_- I wanted so badly to apply Early Decision but I literally can’t pay for anything, so I was really afraid I would get in and not be able to go due to finances. We are getting by on the skin of our teeth as it is.
I wrote about Lise Meitner, the physicist who figured out the kind of energy that can be produced in nuclear weapons. Obviously I want to be a physics major.
I also applied to Smith, Mount Holyoke, and Agnes Scott. I always get those annoying questions-“Won’t you hate it without any guys?” “Won’t you be bored without any guys?” Drives me crazy.
Good luck ladies!

I’m from an all-girls high school. My friends either totally understand my decision or are horrified by it (“you spent five years without boys and you’re willing to go for four more??” ) My parents’ opinion lies somewhere in the middle. But honestly, does it matter if I’m meeting boys or not? I really enjoyed my high school experience without them. I think I’ll enjoy a single-sex college experience too.

Hey everyone! I’m an international student from Belorussia. Are there any other international students?
I had an online interview, wrote about Margaret Thatcher. I wanted to ask her if she would like to come to life if she knew she had to be the president of my country. And what did you write in other supplemental sections? What shaped your perspectives, majored in unafraid thing?
I didn’t spend much time on writing short essays, topics were creative, but no so damn hard;) Can’t wait to see admisisons decisions! Good luck to everyone!

@skvorcova!
international here! but i’m in US haha

I think I’m one of the few people who actually prefer an all girls school to a co-ed school if given the choice based solely on whether its mixed or not. it creates a sort of friendly sisterhood and I’m sort of conservative anyways

So many annoying questions lol! Everyone has an opinion hahaa

And which countries are you internationals from?

@chillychilly - will you have a financial aid consideration as an American citizen or as an international?Where you were born?
I’m from Belorussia, Minsk. I’m in love with NY, visited it 4 times and used to lived there;)
Yeees…there are lots of annoying questions…people ask them very often especially because in my country there are no single sex institutions and schools and it’s considered very weird lol
people who surround me think that I’m out of my mind:D

@skvorcova - as an international i’m korean but i lived in US for 10 years!

@chillychilly, well at least you graduated from US school. here in Belorussia we have 11 grades at school and we don’t have AP courses etc - many disadvantages…so you are a lucky one!
Whats your sat score?

@Skvorcova, but i think if you are in a country where no one is applying, i think it’s a huge advantage!
sorry, i don’t want to give out my specific number because i dont someone to recognize me hahaha. so i’ll just tell you the range. i got above 700 for all three sections. hbu?

@chillychilly I have the same range:D
text me on my e-mail if you want, I cant email you for some reason and I don’t have enough posts yet to send private messages:)

Got an email recently from Barnard saying that they’d still accept my app even though it’s past the deadline. Debating whether or not I should do it because of the challenging supplement and the fact that I already got into the University of Michigan…thoughts on what I should do?

By the way, one of the international applicants girl I know received a deferrance mail letter from Barnard (she applied ed this year) - it considered the same text as in her e-mail but there was one intriguing sentence added, which said: “Please know that you are being strongly considered for one of our international scholarships”
Does anyone know, considering that scholarships for internationals are very competitive, should she consider that note as a compliment and a likely acceptance? We are trying to figure it out with her! Or they write it to every deferred international girl in a mail letter? What do you think?

Does the application tracking portal come to us via email or snail mail? still havent gotten one…

City obsessed: That’s something only you can decide If you are happy with the University of Michigan acceptance and will probably go there either way, then relax and don’t bother. If you’re in-state for Michigan, know that Barnard will probably be more expensive. My D has several friends at Michigan who love it as much as she loves Barnard. They are both great schools!

@honana123: It comes to us via email- that’s how I got mine. They have thousands and thousands of apps to piece together, so I would suggest waiting until at least the end of next week, and if you still haven’t gotten one, then I would e-mail them!

How many schools are you guys applying to? I’m applying to 10, and whenever I tell people that, they freak out and ask me why I would apply to so many lol. Most people apply to, at most, 3 or 4 schools. And those schools are rolling admissions state schools, so a lot of people know where they are going to go next year, while I have to wait for a few more months to find out…

I’m applying to 13, and 10 of them are private so I definitely know where you’re coming from!!
In my school though, I’d say I’m one of the people applying to the lowest number of schools.

i applied already! didn’t have an interview but the admissions officer assured me that it won’t affect my application. i rly rly want to go to barnardd. my scores are pretty good, 33 ACT 2220 SAT, but they’re obviously not perfect. i’m only concerned about my grades, but we’ll see. fingers crossed (:
