Thanks so much for posting this, Rebama. Very helpful.

We live in NJ (hence my screen name). If we don’t get an express mail letter today, does that mean rejection?

Not necessarily, I would think. As has been mentioned before, all of the big envelopes don’t come at the same time. Not to mention that it has yet to be officially confirmed that the decision letters were in fact mailed out yesterday. So the best thing to do would be to wait and see, I think. Unless you’re up to calling the Barnard admissions office, that is.

One question, does express mail come with the rest of my mail, or does it come separately?

It comes with the rest of your mail.

Is financial aid stuff enclosed, or does that come separately? What’s included to make the acceptance mail such a big package?

wej, the financial aid info comes as part of the big envelope. They will tell you right there that you were accepted, and how much is the aid. Good luck!

when do you guys think it’ll get to California? I imagine not today, but do you think Saturday or Monday?

I’m wondering the same thing about MN.

I feel so, so sick. I can barely wait until tomorrow afternoon and, if I don’t get an acceptance then, I am going to be a complete wreck until Monday. The worst thing? Getting a rejection on Tuesday+.

This is torture.

@samedifference: hopefully tomorrow. I’m in SD and the wait is driving me insane!

Internationals go the e-mail today. For my D not good news. Apparently overwhelming number of applicants so those who get in please appreciate for a moment your accomplishment.

just got the mail. Waitlisted! What is the best strategy? Should I contact them on May 1st?

Do you guys think this could be a result of Barnard practicing Tufts Syndrome?

P.S. I also applied to Columbia.

Maybe, or maybe your application didn’t convince Barnard that you wanted to be there. Barnard really want women who want Barnard. And it may also be that they had many candidates with your profile. All LAC’s build a class around many different kinds of people.

There are several possibilities here. Good luck with your other applications.

But Barnard IS my top choice school. I don’t understand what I need to do to convince them of that. Should I call or write a letter to them perhaps?

Definitely. Tell them that if you’re admitted from the waitlist you will definitely attend.

What is most effective: call/letter/email?

lots of issues here:
great numbers/stats, ivy potential.

if you really wanted barnard, ed would have been the best message.

on otherhand, wait 1 more week, then let them know where you got admissionsalready.
then tell them you really want to attend Barnard, then try to visit and meet adcom.

if after all this, barnard does not take you, it is thier loss.

I’ve already been admitted to Lehigh, Smith, Mount Holyoke. Waitlisted to Swarthmore.

I didn’t apply ED because I wasn’t sure about it back then.

Do I need to visit, or is calling/emailing enough?

Waitlisted but it’s okay because I was accepted at Amherst and I could get off the waitlist at some point.
