I was also accepted at Bates, Pitzer, and Oxy!
They’re all great schools, but when comparing them it’s important to have in mind just what you (or your daughter) wants in the school. Comparisons based on their ranks on USWN report isn’t sufficient. I chose Bates for environmental studies and because 1)I want to experience the other side of the US by moving to Maine, and 2) the students there are all very much more tolerable (less entitled-acting) than those at both Bowdoin and Middlebury.

Accepted!
oh and demetri93, im from China too =) but i went to high school in the US
btw does anyone know if we have to pay extra to live in the victorian homes? I read that on multiple websites & really want to live in one!

I haven’t received the mails yet…eagerly waiting for the huge envelops

Has anyone not received an official admissions letter yet? Believe it or not, we are still waiting for it in Illinois. I have contacted Admissions and am awaiting a response.

I got my acceptance in Illinois… I got it last Monday

I received an email from Bates Admission Office. I have been wait listed.

Got my fat envelope sometime around March 29th.

3.9 weighted GPA here. I take dual enrollment classes at Macomb Community College and Wayne State University and I have a 4.0 at both institutions, so I think that helped. Plus I was treasurer of my school’s NHS and senior class, in the marching, jazz, and concert bands, had four great letters of recommendation, didn’t send my less than stellar ACT scores, and had two 5’s on independent-study AP tests.

I was also accepted by Albion College in Michigan and Holy Cross in Massachusetts. I was rejected by Boston College, Carleton, and Washington University in St. Louis, which didn’t surprise me at all since I only applied because they had no additional essays other than the Common App. I was wait listed by Tufts and the University of Michigan. Tufts was my first pick, Bates my second, and U of M my third. So unless I get into Tufts I’ll be in Lewiston in the fall. Pretty psyched.

I’m hoping for some hefty financial aid. I’m an only child and my parents make around $100,000 before tax, but they managed to rack up like $150,000 of debt and my dad’s a relator. With home values down 55% or so here in Metro Detroit and him being paid entirely on commission it makes things a little tough. I included this information in a cover letter along with my parents taxes…so yah.

Anyone hear back from Bates about financial aid yet?

Two seniors at my HS started dating bc they bonded over loving bates. both lax recruits, both applied ED. boy got accepted ED, girl got deferred. she was recently accepted off of the waitlist.
his gpa: 3.5ish her gpa 4.1

Good luck and thank you for keeping Bates in your college search!

Hi, I saw this thread a bit late. If you go to common data set at Bates it was in 2010 that Bates took 100 kids off waitlist. I think Sue22 was looking for this link. I do believe 2011 was a lot less. Ever year varies but 2010 was a bit strange. .Good luck to those still waiting. One never knows if someone may drop out last minute…

Hi, is there any international students got accepted without submitting the SAT scores?

Hi, i am an international student from Nepal. I asked for an Skype interview but didn’t get. Do Bates provide interview to any international student or not?
