Rejected to EECS. Definitely did not expect this, since I’m in state and have good stats, ECs, and SAT scores (to toot my own horn). However, I did go in aware that this was the hardest major to get into, so. Also, I got into Columbia, Chicago, and UCLA, so I’m happy with how this all played out.

Spring admit, haha-- 2320 SAT and 4.3 UC GPA. I’m not attending though, so hopefully this frees up an extra spot for those of you on the waitlist!!

Accepted, really surprised though haha. 4.25 GPA, 2190 SAT, 33 ACT. Also got in to UCLA, and honestly wasn’t expecting to get in to either! Now I have to choose between the two! So weird and unexpected

S got in – 2300 and 3.92 UW. So happy!

waitlisted

SAT 2280, SAT II Physics: 800 Chemistry: 800 Maths L2: 800
Class Rank: 1/165
Nationality: Indian
Rejected
Should I appeal?

Holy crap, I got in!!! What the heck!!! Rejected from UCLA and into Berkeley – this is crazy!

@wishfulwolverine where else did you apply ?

@choco1311 Unless you have some new and compelling evidence, I’d say no. Also did you apply to COE, it’s much more competitive than L&S so don’t feel bad that people with lower stats than you got into UC Berkeley.

@choco1311
Rejected too. I don’t even know why…
Nationality: Asian American
Class Rank: 5/220
ACT: 32, SAT 2160, SAT II 780 Maths L@, 710 Literature
Predicted 43/44 for IB (we only get 2 TOK points).

@cantoo did you get into COE? I also got rejected from COE :(

@cantooo Only that my Physics SAT 2 scores weren’t received by UC Berkeley.
And I have completed 5 months of internship at a local pharmaceutical.
Yes, I did apply to the COE.
I am currently researching at the pharmaceutical too. (None of this was mentioned in my UC Application)

Decision: Rejected

General Comments Already got into MIT, but was curious to see how I would fare if gender in engineering and fencing recruitment were left out of it. Had a really strong recommendation from physics teacher (according to counselor) too that didn’t count. MIT was the dream school and I’m thrilled about that, although, as my first and only rejection, this is certainly humbling.

General Comments
It goes to show that you can be in the bottom 25% of the applicants and still get in! For those reading this for next year: take the essay prompts literally. Write about your passion and if you don’t have one write about trying to find a passion! Show them you have a purpose and even if you’re not sure what you’re gonna do you know you’ll make something out of yourself. I really thought I would get rejected because my stats were lower than average and I didn’t get a borderline supplement. I’ll be waiting for Stanford tomorrow but heh, I’M GONNA BE A CAL BEAR!

GO BEARS!

could you please tell me how many people are accepted from the waitlist? thank you so much :)
