Congrats to both bustofPallas and Deenz!!! Hook 'Em Horns! Seriously, I hope you are Horn fans as I’ve heard that some(very few that is) of the ppl that attend UT root for OU.

congrats deenz and bustofpallas!!!

Congrads guys!
now I’m all nervous.
if bust got a mail, why haven’t I gotten one yet? we live in the same city!

I applied to BHP and Plan II in just before Thanksgiving. Does anybody here have an idea of when I’ll get any kind of notification?

It’s been a month and I’ve already applied and signed for honors housing (looking for a roommate), but I don’t have any kind of official word from the University…

Do y’all think that i’ll be waiting for another full month just to hear if I have an interview?

I’m in-state, SAT: 2220, active in a lot of clubs (Pres, VP, Sec, etc.), but I only wrote the two required essays, and I’m only in the top 4% of my school… I’m nervous. Should I write the third essay, or would sending in something so much later hurt me?

Thanks and Congratz to the ones that have already made it. :-)

anyone else gotten in lately?
I’m still waiting for news of acceptance or rejection and it’s been a long time…
I applied before bustofPallas.
do they tell you if you are deferred?

Yes, they do. I have a friend who was deferred. That’s odd about not hearing back, but I wouldn’t worry too much about it just yet. I’ve heard of several cases where people haven’t heard back when they’re expected to.

I got a letter yesterday (the 10th) that was dated January 12th, and its said that “due to high application volume” or something, I would be dE*ffered until around April 1? The thing is, I didn’t even apply for early admission, I finished my bhp application on 11/25. Another thing that confuses is me that I feel like I’m pretty well qualified. I’m 1st in my class of 500 or so, my SATs are 800 CR 800 M and 750 W (10 essay), lettered in 3 sports for 4 years, and i’m president of more than a few organizations. Does anyone know what the deal is?

^^^^You’re overqualified LOL.

You seem like a great candidate. I doubt it has anything to do with you, they probably just have a really large volume of applicants and are telling everybody who applied that it’ll take them a while to get back to them. That’s my best guess. Good luck! With those stats I wouldn’t worry.

Thanks guys, since it was Sunday and I couldn’t call to find out what had happened I had no idea what to think. Ive applied to other schools, but UT’s BHP program is what I really want…Good luck with your own admissions!

I just got in today(yay! super happy), and the admissions counselors said they just recently mailed the rest of the decisions out, so you should be expecting it in the next week. so don’t give up hope, and GOOD LUCK!

Congrats! Anybody going to the “discover BHP” thing?

Congrats everyone, BHP must be getting ridicoulusly hard to get into this year

Wharton ED-Accepted
BHP EC-Defferred lol

Goodluck everyone else!

lol Cougar they probably thought you were overqualified and wanted the spot for someone who wouldn’t have gotten in WHARTON ED :D

I’m really not sure if I want to drive down to austin for a one day event… what exactly would we “discover” that we hadn’t learned from the brochures?

I found out that the BHP admissions committee didn’t have my highest SAT scores when they reviewed my app. Apparently they only had my old scores, which were 250 points lower… I hope this doesn’t hurt me because there are no more spots left…

bustofPallas-they did say they’ll give tours of the honors dorms, which is a main reason I’m going haha. It’ll be interesting to meet some of the other people as well.

so its just one day?

yeah from 9am-4pm or something like that. In your acceptance letter there should be a link to a site that describes it in detail and provides and itinerary.

After re-reading the site and doing some re-thinking, I kinda want to go now. However, it sounds a lot like the honors colloquium thing I did during the summer, and one presentation after another became pretty dull. Still, I bet it’s worth it to meet the people!

Only problem is… I don’t know how I’m getting there. I’m not sure I have the constitution to drive from dallas to austin in the crack of dawn on saturday. I’d really like to drive down the friday before and stay overnight with a student, but does UT do overnight visits?

what’s gonna happen to me is my dad and I’ll drive to austin the night before, stay at his buddy’s house and then while I go to discover BHP, he’ll just chill with his friends. does your parents have any friends in the austin area? or you can ask anyone from your school that’s currently attending UT. I think they let you stay over at people’s dorms.
