Not sure what else they wanted. At least deferred

Deferred

Sigh. I kind of feel numb, probably by a fulfilled prophesy of the ominous absence of the Glorious Financial Aid Tab Gungho.
Perhaps there was something poisonous in my application, something overlooked, or barred from my sight. Boston college was not my first choice, but now, I have thoughts that such is beyond first choice grounds to those dreamy heights. One may call BC as my benchmark.

What have I done? Have a raised my hopes to places too high, only to have them fall at a greater impact? I look forward to bleak letters from all those other colleges I’ve applied, all those other colleges of even greater competitive nitpicking. God-given, it is for the best…

I cannot be specific with my stats-in case someone can track me from my school. (I am forbidden to tell my stats >_>)

SAT: A tiny bit over 2200, superscored
Subjects SAT: BioE: 780 Math Level 1: 730
Rank: Top 7% of a class of a bit over 200.
GPA: A-
Honors: Nothing special
Essay: In my opinion, average
Extracurriculars: nothing special
Community Service: Some, and a lot of church work.
Recommendations: I don’t know, am not allowed to read them

Merry Christmas

Mouse, I’m shocked u didn’t get accepted. Is the GPA u gave UW or weighted? I know u must be frustrated. My daughter has comparable stats, and I know she would have been crushed had she not have been accepted (confused and bewildered too). I know you know this, but know that there is the right school out there for you, and it might still be BC. Try and have a great Christmas!

wow mmouse i’m super surprised by your deferral! maybe it is an instance of yield protection? is bc your top choice because if it is maybe making that clear through an extra letter or something would help secure you a spot in the rd acceptance pool!

General Comments/Congratulations/etc:
Good luck to everyone else! Don’t lose hope if your deferred! And for anyone afraid to apply EA just do it!!! My scores aren’t amazing but I still got in so all you others might be able to to!

Yea that is surprising that Mouse got deferred. Very nice stats you had.

Grasshead and Mouse:

You guys/gals both had the plenty of excellent numbers. Thus, suggest you read scott’s sage advice, particularly focusing on the essay and recs. If you have only “average” ECs or “nothing special”, you need a kick-butt essay to do the trick. Good luck.

I know my GPA was a bit low at 3.87 weighted, but my recs were excellent and I am told my essay was excellent (hard to judge your own essay) so there is not much else I can do. My 1st semester grades should be above 4.0 but other than writing a letter expressing my extreme interest I don’t know what else I can do. I did the best I could!

I am not applying to any Ivy’s etc, because I am not interested in them. College admissions is a funny thing.

tulip-

My notification of acceptance to honors program came with the letter of acceptance to the school, so i’m assuming thats the case for everyone.

I have the same question, but for the presidential scholars.
Does that come with the letter or seperately?
