[ /list]**General Comments:[ /b] offered a spot on the waitlist, but im not gonna accept. USC class of 2015!

From an EA admit: Congratulations to all those accepted, BC is a wonderful place and I hope you give it some serious consideration. Through your college decision “deliberations”, I will be right there with you trying to find the place for me. I’ll admit though, I’m a little biased–I love Boston College. Please PM me if you have any questions about the process or the University itself. To those not happy with their result, just keep on looking. Rest assured that there is a place for you, and a path that you’ll thrive in. A waitlist or denial from Boston College isn’t necessarily indicative of your abilities as a student or a human; admissions are extremely cryptic.

Once again, to all of you, I extend my congratulations.

[] Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): varsity soccer, varsity football, JROTC leadership
[] Volunteer/Community service: Youth soccer coach
[] Essays: Solid, but very hit-or-miss (and they have been). Talked about my experiences in both a public high school in California and an all-boys military academy in Alabama

[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: leadership, recommendations
[] Weaknesses: Jewish? Haha, just kidding. I’d say gpa and courseload.
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I had no clue whether I’d be accepted or rejected because my stats seemed to be on the cusp. But I think military school might have been construed as a negative thing, while some of my other schools viewed it as a positive.
[] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected:

Reflection
Strengths: leadership, recommendations
Weaknesses: courseload? sat idk
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: boston college requires two recommendations and i think one of my teachers didn’t actually submit hers. she was so nice to me last year and im so upset right now when i check commonapp i saw her recommendation was missing and i even bought her chocolate for christmas :frowning:
Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected:
Accepted to UIUC business
WAitlisted: emory, washu stloius
rejected: ucb texas at austin uva
Pending: michigan ann arbor

General Comments: Congratulations to all those accepted! Boston college wasn’t my first choice but was hoping to get an acceptance to broaden my choices. Now that I look back I was to hasty in preparing for us. I came to canada in grade 11 and got accepted to toronto university last year but then I thought about the neccesity of staying in canada as an international. I started studying sats last summer and I learned a lot. For those who are reading this thread and are in canada i strongly recommend studying sats as soon as possible. Well, unless I get really lucky and get accepted to UM im pretty much going to uiuc and do accounting  good luck to all

Wow shermani, your stats look above average for BC and you were probably a full pay. Go figure.

[li] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): I’m not in school anymore? I graduated HS 2010, went off for Florida State for a few months, withdrew because I didn’t like it, and applied here afterwards, that seems like more of a negative though
[/li]

[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: My test scores and courseload I would suppose, my work experience in business and IT
[] Weaknesses: The fact I have already enrolled at a college before
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I applied to CSOM with a concentration in IT, my work experience reflects significant background in it, I have pretty decent scores and grades, the fact I’m of Hispanic heritage helped too I think
[] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Rejected from UF because when I withdrew and started applying again it was already past their deadline so I was out of the running from start, I was also waitlisted at NYU CAS, I’m waiting on BU (likely acceptance I think), Georgetown (low), and Brown (very very low)

[/ul]General Comments: Pretty shocked I’m in, but very glad, certainly one of my top choices now

I probably will not be attending for financial reasons, but this acceptance means the world to me. Boston College has been my dream school every since I can remember. Boston College was my motivation throughout middle and high school, every time I worked hard can be accounted to my desire to be accepted here. I literally just sobbed for about two hours after receiving my acceptance because it breaks my heart that I probably won’t be attending…so it goes. I know there is someone out there who deserves the spot more than I do.

[ /list]**Reflection[ /b][list]
Strengths: EC’s, Letters of Rec, Test scores (not counting math), Directed that play, it was Shakespeare
Weaknesses: Math ACT scores, GPA was a little low
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Well my waitlist letter said a TON of people applied. Probably waitlisted because I was right on the cusp with scores and grades and everything… I was qualified but none of my stuff really really stood out and they didn’t get the best of my writing. BC wasn’t my absolute top choice, so hope I don’t sound like too much of a dweeb to say I was a little flattered just to be waitlisted, I thought for sure I’d get a rejection.
Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Accepted Boston University, Rochester, Washington and Lee, University of Denver, CU-Boulder and CSU (last two were safety schools) Defered EA at Chicago then rejected, straight up rejected at Northwestern. Still waiting on Emory.

[ /list]**General Comments:[ /b] Congrats to everyone that got accepted. BC is a seriously cool school. I’ll see what happens on the waitlist just to keep as many options as possible…but right now I’m def leaning toward BU, I just have to find a way to afford it (and I know I know, it’s totally blasphemy to say i like both BU and BC, but I’m being honest, they’re both really cool in their own ways).
