I had her for two classes and she is also the head of the math club, so her opinion carries a lot of weight in my app

Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): Have a fairly interesting and unusual background

Reflection

Strengths: Test Scores, maybe ECs
Weaknesses: grades (got an 81 in Calc Junior year), applying to CSOM, possibly recs, possibly essays
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Not really sure. Nobody with my test scores and grades has been rejected from BC in the last 5 years (according to Naviance), so there must have been something glaring. I hope it wasn’t the recs, cuz that could screw me for the rest of my apps.
Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Accepted: Alabama Deferred: Boston College Rejected: Notre Dame

General Comments:
I’m honestly really bummed out. After getting straight up rejected by Notre Dame on Monday, I was pretty shaken. I really really wanted Boston College to calm my nerves a bit. I’ve still got 4 more EA decisions to go, but the only one left that I would be satisfied with is UChicago, and tbh I don’t think I’ve got much of a shot now. There must be something in these apps that is really putting the AOs off. I’m praying that it was just the individual school essays, not the commonapp or recommendations. What a fricken bummer. I really wanted to stop worrying about these college applications before winter break… Anyways. I hope everyone who got in is as relieved as I one day hope to be.
