*****Official Boston College EA Class of 2018 Thread****

Hello everyone!

I didn’t see a similar thread anywhere, so I thought I would create one. We are now 25 days from receiving our decisions! How is everyone feeling about the process?

So nervous! I hear that admissions decisions in the past have been sent out about a week and a half before December 25. If you get an email, you have been deferred. If you get a big letter you are in, and if you get a small letter you have been denied. That is what I have heard from previous REA applicants.

Last year, my son received his REA deferral email on Dec. 10. He was later accepted regular decision in March.

Last year’s deferral email did state that over 5,000 candidates submitted applications for Early Action consideration, the process was highly selective, and admission was offered only to those candidates with the very strongest credentials.

Fairly nervous. I applied to three EA schools, but BC is the only one that I both am truly interested in and feel will give me enough FA. Plus if I get in, it knocks off about four RD apps.

I heard that acceptances and rejections were mailed on December 14th last year. I hope that’ll be the case this year as well, so I’ll have time to work on my other apps if things don’t pan out quite as I’d like.

Exciting stuff. Good luck to all!

Adamsl - what are the other colleges you applied EA. My D is looking for east coast colleges similar to BC - her stats are 4.0 (W) GPA, 33 ACT, most of her EC’s are sports and church related - looking for a good fit for her, we are way more familiar with the west coast schools.

The other schools I applied EA to are OSU and UVA, simply because they were the only ones on my application that provided such an option. However, I will be applying RD to schools such as Carnegie Mellon, Colgate, Northwestern, Johns Hopkins, and Princeton. I have an ACT score of 33 as well, and my counselor suggested that any one of these would be a great academic fit.

I applied early action and my gpa is 3.7, sat 1940, act 28 but i missed two years of highschool due to being diagnosed with Leukemia but even though i missed those two years i still progressed through school and managed to stay in almost all honors classes and to make first honors every marking period. I am now a senior taking Ap Calc AB with a 90 in the first quarter and AP stats a 90 in the first quarter and Spanish 4 Honors with a 98 first quarter. I wrote my common about how having cancer changed me and made me a stronger person and how it was actually a good thing for me to get. Also I have done over 100 hours of community service in many different ways. So what do you think, do you think they will take my story into account or just look at my grades and be like LOL NOPE

ThatkidfromNJ,

Mark Herzlich. Thatkid, yours is a compelling story. Your drive, your courage, your empathy in volunteering speak volumes. Any school would be proud to have you. Good luck

Thank you so much, let’s just hope that the admissions counselor thinks the same!

If someone gets a deferral email please post it here!

Yes, please do post if you got deferred. Based on previous years, emails will likely be sent out tomorrow!

vchswarrier, only deferrals or all notifications?

Cavmom - just deferrals. Acceptances and rejections will be mailed out several days later.

Cavmom, historically, deferrals are emailed out this coming Monday (12/9), and acceptance and denial letters are mailed out this Friday (12/13). Acceptance and denial letters should arrive the week after.

DEFERRALS ARE EMAILED TOMORROW I DID NOT KNOW THIS, omg I’m so nervous now, praying I don’t get an email tomorrow.

Hey, y’all. I applied ea to bc as well (super anxious for the decision!) but today was my first time hearing about the CSS profile and apparently it was due November 15? It’s Sunday, so their offices aren’t open and I’m just really freaking out right now ): does anybody know anything about this?!

To all who don’t want deferrals: better than getting rejected.

Wait what about the css profile?
