***Official Boston College Waitlist Class of 2011*** Thread

Hi guys I stole this from last yr. Post your stats and any information about the WL you may find out.

My stats:

4.2 GPA w
2200 SAT
Excellent ECs
Excellent Recs
Good Essays

bump .....

i'm also on the waiting list. I went to BC yesterday because I was in Boston and spoke with an admissions person. she said they were "right on track" in terms of the number of kids who sent a deposit to BC. She said she wasn't sure if they'd be able to admit anyone off the waitlist this year. She told me that they will have everything wrapped up by june 15, but most kids, if they can accpet any, will know in the third week of may.

Bailey, did you have a quasi-meeting or did you just ask a few questions?

I think that will be the standard stock answer regardless of where they are in their estimations. I doubt they will say whether or not they are exceeding expectations etc.

spoke to a woman in the BC admissions office today she said the WL will be similar to last year's. Does anyone know the stats of last yrs WL?

i read in a previous post that they accepted ~100 out of 1000ish?

in the letter they sent around decision time they said they typically accept anywhere from 50-150 students

The word is that BC had a very high yeild. UGGGHH! Not good for the waitlist.

homers where did you hear that from?

I heard that from 2 different college counselors at 2 different private schools in 2 different states. Both had spoken late last week with the BC admissions office.

The letter said that they have accepted between 50-150 in the past in an active waiting list of about 1500.

What have you guys done since you've been place on the waitlist? sent the third quarter grades? Written letters, emails, spoken with members of admissions directly?

I can't take it anymore! Hasn't anyone heard from them? Are they really not going to the waitlist at all? - Does it always take this long?

We will find out within the next two weeks. I am pretty sure they are going to the WL. Just a matter of how many people they take off of it.

i called yesterday. they said everyone should be receiving a letter in a week or two. the woman in admissions who i spoke with also said that they had not yet determined whether the waitlist would be activated... seems like they are telling people slightly different things

Last year people denied admission from the WL heard back this week. Their letters were dated May 18. Admitted students received notification in early early June. I don't think there will be that much of a gap this year. Last year rejected kids found out before accepted kids RD. This year it was the same.

This is really ticking me off because I had the best stats of everyone from my school to apply to BC and I was WL while the rest were accepted. I get depressed looking at the acceptances of students with lesser stats than me on the thread. I really wanted to go to BC.

i just spoke to admissions again. although they have not made any decisions yet, they anticipate accepting 100 students off a waitlist of about 1500 students. they said everyone should know in about 2 weeks.

thanks for the update Dani.

Carnegie111 - Do not get discouraged. Everything happens for the best and God has a plan for everyone. I can imagine how you feel with good stats and others with lesser getting in. The same happened to my son. Perhaps you have some other choices of schools? With a record like yours you are going to do well where ever you go. Also you could ask your counselor to speak to your area representative. It may help. Good Luck.

Thanks for the encouraging words inquiring. How is your son doing now?

Just a general question to anyone: Does anyone know who to speak to in the admissions office (aka who has the authority regarding WLs) is it the regional director/counselor or is it the director. I know ultimately the Dean or the Director is the head, but does the area rep have the authority to admit? My counselor has had some good dialgoues regarding me with my adcom. Idk if he needs to talk to the Director though.
