Official Boston University Fall 2013 Transfer Thread

Hi guys I was accepted two weeks ago for the School of Management! I’m a junior transfer but I already met with an advisor who says I have to be a sophomore all over again just because of statistics. Is any one else in the same boat?

^ did you receive an email or a letter upon acceptance

^^
They email you saying that your decision is available and then you have to go to the applicant link to see your admission and financial status.

Thanks(: I applied to the school of management too but I’ve yet to hear anything from BU. :frowning: would that be a bad sign gahhhhhhhhhhhh

well when did you get all your materials in? I think I got an early decision because I completed all the paperwork before the April 1st deadline.

But no worries! You should get in! I think most decisions come later around May-ish

Rani0507 yeah, I did submit my documents before April 1 but it was only a week(?) before did they change my status to complete. It took them nearly 2 weeks to process my financial documents. I’m an international student. I hope they’ll contact me soon!

Hey~ I’m a junior transfer so most of the emphasis was on my college work. Right now im at SUNY Buffalo and I have 50 credits completed with 3.97 GPA. Currently I’m taking another 17 credits and as seen from my midterm report I have all As. Awards wise, I was on the Dean’s List and received another academic award from the school. For extracurriculars, I talked about volunteering as a Student Life representative and how I was given a leadership position in my accounting club the first year I joined. I only have one letter of recommendation from a professor I took two classes with; I think my recommendation was pretty average because she only wrote about how I aced her classes. I was pretty average in high school with a 3.6 GPA so I made sure to beef up my first two years so I would have an easier chance to transfer. So overall, I think I got in because of my high GPA.

Yeah that sounds pretty right! I made sure my status was complete before the April 1st deadline so I think that’s why I have a head start. I went to BU’s transfer information session in the middle of March and they said they would shortly start reviewing the transfer files since they just finished the freshman apps. But you should start hearing back soon so good luck!

My GPA is just 3.46…
It is slightly below the average of BU
I really hope to hear back from them soon…

Hi @Rani0507

I was accepted about a week ago to School of Management. I am currently a freshman at USF (but with a junior standing, due to previous AP/CC credits), and they all transfer for the most part (with the exception of two or three courses).

I wouldn’t worry too much. They’ve only released a few decisions out, and the majority will be released beginning in mid-May.

^marmun
like what happened in the past?
I guess the admission office would not work as much as they do normally at least for this few days.

We may need to wait longer.

Yes, I feel like we will have to wait longer…
But they have just a certain number of spots to fill up with transfer, so I don’t feel they will accept more people due to what happened yesterday… i mean, i hope they do hahaha but seems unlike

My application has just turned to complete
I sent my mid-year report last monday by express mail and arrived on tuesday

For your reference, i guess it takes 1 week for BU to update your applicant link once they have received your document.

Bob, marmum is arguing that people will be less likely to attend the University therefore they’ll have more slots. It’s a valid argument considering they don’t seem to be close to catching the individual(s).

Sup. Yeah you are right about all the credits transferring (all of mine are in) but they won’t let me take any “junior level” management classes until I finish the sophomore requisites like Statistics and Accounting. I already took accounting this year so hopefully I can just take the placement test and use them as real credits. But my problem is with statistics, in BU’s curriculum stats is two semesters sooooooo I won’t be able to start any junior level work until Fall 2013 the earliest

Long time lurker but first time posting. I got accepted to BU’s SOM today! Not sure if I’m attending though since my decision to accept/reject the offer is contingent on my aid package, among other things. Also, I’m still waiting to hear back from the other schools I applied to.
Good luck to everyone else!

ilovekoreanfood, congrats!

for those of you accepted, when do you guys have to pay the deposit?

I was accepted in early April, and my deadline is May 1

I’m looking to transfer to BU from the University of New Hampshire. I moved out here from Utah at the beginning of this year, (I am a freshman). I think you have a good shot at BU. Are you originally from Utah?

wow, it looks like this thread have been going on for quite so long now. I have applied to BU Engineering for transfer, and i sent my midterm grades last week. My applicant link currently shows that they haven’t received it yet. How long after my application is complete will i receive my decision email? Anyone? . . . I’m so impatient and tired of waiting, if someone knows anything please say something.
